Sterling 115gr steel case has been my preferred match ammo for a while now; it's sorta clean and soft shooting, and to date I've only had 1 FTF with it in my trusty G34. It doesn't bind in the mags with weak springs like the wolf or tula will. I've got the irons and dot zeroed with it.

Gratuitous photo of said G34 as of today with 43837 rounds fired.

Anyway, at the H2O match yesterday on stage 4 I believe when I went to 'load and make ready' the G34 didn't actually go directly into battery. It hung up for a sec and required a little bump to get it to fully go. The RO said something to the effect of "your gun doesn't do that", and it's true. The gen4 has a much more forgiving chamber than the gen5 and I've yet to have anything 9mm shaped not chamber up. I shot the stage and when I finished and went to 'unload and show clear' I couldn't get the slide open. Took some grunt to get the round out and when I examined it after, the bullet and case were slightly scratched. I didn't think anything of it and just went on with life (and used that ejected round on the next stage).

No cambering issues on the next few stages to finish the day but each time it was work to get the unfired round out. Today I took it apart and checked out what was going on:

It's not unburnt powder like wolf likes to leave behind, but some sort of metal. You can see bits of it smashed into the chamber wall. With some work with a bronze brush I got it cleaned out but it wasn't coming out with just the nylon glock brush.

Should be good to go now, but this is a first with this ammo. I've only fired a case and a half or so, it's reserved for match use only, but now I'll have to keep an eye on it to see if it's just these few boxes or if I've got a whole case with some strangeness.

I’ve never used this ammo but others have reported extraction issues with it. The projectile jacket doesn’t look like typical copper. Is it possibly brass jacketed as well? The debris in your chamber resembles the jacket.

it’s a testament to glock extractor that no stoppages were encountered just manual extraction difficulty.

Unless it's Romanian 8mm or 7.62×39, I don't shoot steel cased in anything I own.

He shoots competitions, it would cost a fortune to use only brass cased ammo.

Last time I ordered the LGS had brass for $240/case and I paid... $240/case for steel. At this point it's not a cost thing, it's a spite thing.
