First movie you saw in a theater

I asked my dad and he said: Probably some cartoon something. The first one I remember taking you to where I thought “this is really a good way to spend time with my son” was one of the Star Wars movies.

I would’ve been 5 when Empire came out, so that’s the one.

First one I remember is Jurassic Park. But I was 18 based on checking the release date…so I know I went to movies in junior/senior high, but don’t recall a single one. 🤔

ETA: I remember one. Spaced Invaders (1990). The only reason we stayed for the whole thing was to see if it ever got any better. If you’ve never seen it, here you go:

The only one that comes to mind from my younger years was in high school. Went to see “Dangerous Minds” and since it had more racial tension than most back then, my buddy and I were made to sit in the back row beside a on duty police officer. My buddy and I were the only white viewers in the entire theater.

"What's the first movie you can remember seeing in a theater?"

since Drive-Ins do not count (they are IN A CAR),
it would be:

Beyond the Time Barrier

In 1960, a military test pilot is caught in a time warp that propels him to year 2024 where he finds a plague has sterilized the world's population.

It would have been either Disney's The Junge Book or Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey. Can't remember which was 1st.

Mid- to late 60's; Dad was in VN, Mom would take us to kids' movies, but she liked Sci Fi, so she dragged me along when she wanted to see it. Pretty sure I slept through a lot of it, but the psychedelic trip through time & space? THAT I remember!

Not a clue.

But I know I made my dad buy a DVD player so I could buy our first dvd, The Fast & The Furious. Yup, child of the 90’s  so I thought this was the coolest movie ever.

First one I remember seeing was Star Wars. I was three and a half or so.

The Sound of Music, at some fancy theater in downtown Charlotte. I was a little kid, we sat in the balcony and I wondered what the separated-off section next to us was for. It was a long drive and US 21 North of Charlotte was still mostly an Asphalt strip through the woods. I signed up for piano lessons the next day.

That would have been the Carolina Theater. My entire 6th grade class took time out of school to go see the Sound of Music. Must have thought it was educational I guess.

I'll mention the ending of a movie seen in the original theatre release that I can still recall the frisson of being able to hear a pin drop.

Planet of the Apes ('68).

Adults and kids just didn't quite know how to respond.

Fail Safe was similar, but I was bit young for the original theatrical run.
