well, it has to start somewhere, sometime.
to use TVs as an technology example:

Between 1950 and 2022: Televisions experienced an average inflation rate of -6.41% per year.
This rate of change indicates significant deflation. In other words, televisions costing $1,000
in the year 1950 would cost $8.46 in 2022 for an equivalent purchase.

"Sustainable design is stitched into every seam of Lightyear 0’s high-quality interior. It’s vegan and eco-friendly, featuring plant-based leather, fabrics made from recycled PET bottles and wooden deco elements from sustainably-restructured rattan palm."

I read this 'not suitable for locations with rodents'.

They want people to drive 1 light year on solar in 13 years.

Quick and dirty math would mean they have to sell the equivalent of 66M units in year one. I think they will be lucky to achieve 1M solar miles in 13 years.

So what about folks that use parking garages, home garages, or those metal sheds? Seems like that’s gonna cut down on the necessary charging time.

Those will be outlawed. Only white supremacists would have or use them. ;)

So if we use real leather, we’re savages.
If we use vinyl we’re unrefined/poor and killing the environment.
If we use plant based leather, we’re tempting rodents and are OK replacing it in a fraction of the time vs the other options. Doesn’t seem very sustainable.

Sustainability has nothing to do with the optics of the issue at hand.

If you believe you can go seven months without charging while actually driving this car, I have a bridge with a waterview you are going to LOVE LOVE!

No, you've got it all wrong. See with solar charging you get 10 km/hr. So in full sunlight you could drive 43.5 miles (70 km per day max solar charge) at 6.2 mph and never have to recharge. A note says the specs are based on Southern Spain. It's for the children.

Bring back the velour of the 80s!!

Plant based is fun, especially in wire insulation!

I know, it’s all “feel good”, but I can’t help but laugh at the complete disregard for sustainability and actual energy usage for production of these less durable products.
