The Boundary Waters up in MN are supposed to be awesome. I really only have bass fishing suggestions since that is what I’ve always done.
Clear Lake, CA - Awesome natural lake with every kind of cover and structure you would want for largemouth. Huge fish too. I caught a 10.5 lb bass there and had a bigger one eat me up. Also had a 2 hour stretch of night fishing get an 8+, 7+, 2 just over 6 and a tiny little 5.5,
CA Delta - Northern CA. About 1000 miles of flooded farms lands, levees and channels. Great largemouth fishing. They also have striper and salmon runs in the Fall.
Lake Erie - Eastern basin for huge smallies.
St Lawrence River - Tons of big smallies, musky and Northern pike.
Lake Champlain - North end is probably my favorite fishing in the world. You can catch 5 lb largemouth and smallmouth. 5lb plus smallies are not uncommon. It is a massive body of water so you need to just pick a general area and work it. I avoid Burlington and south because that is where the population and most boaters are. I usually fish the area up near the inland sea and focus on smallies. I’ve gotten bored with 4 lb smaliies up there. Just amazing. It‘s also very rural up there so the people are cool. Not wacky like Burlington. Some cool pubs and restaurants. Had a cute little bar tender one year tell me all about her new 12 gauge shottie. She was so excited to get it out and hunt.
