You can upload a pic, then have to mail FD-258LE cards within 10 business days. The system will give you a cover sheet to use with the FP cards once you submit the F1 online.

Special Instructions for Individuals, Trusts and Legal Entities

FILING AS AN INDIVIDUAL

The applicant must attach a digital photo in the Photo function on the Responsible Person tab.
The applicant must also provide his or her fingerprints on Form FD-258. The fingerprints will be submitted separately from the application. Upon submission of the application, the eForms system will email a cover sheet to the applicant. The cover sheet is to be printed as it will provide the control number of the transaction and the address where to send the fingerprint cards. The cover sheet and fingerprint cards MUST be mailed to the NFA Division within 10 business days of filing the application.

FILING AS A TRUST OR OTHER LEGAL ENTITY

In addition to providing the documentation of the existence of the trust or other legal entity, the applicant must electronically provide a photograph and completed ATF Form 5320.23, NFA Responsible Person Questionnaire (RPQ), for each responsible person (see definition 1.e on the instruction page) of the trust or legal entity. When filed via eForms, when in the Responsible Person function, the applicant will identify each responsible person and attach the photograph and a scanned, signed RPQ from that person. All photographs and RPQ forms must be attached to the application prior to submission.

The fingerprints for each responsible person must also be submitted. As for an individual applicant, the fingerprint cards must be sent to the NFA Division. The eForms system will email a cover sheet to the applicant listing the names of the responsible persons and is to be printed. The cover sheet and the fingerprint cards for all RP’s MUST be mailed in one batch to the NFA Division within 10 days of filing the application.

Please note that the F 5320.23, NFA RPQ, form is available in a fillable version on the ATF website (www.atf.gov). The form can be completed and printed for signature and scanning.

Where to get/do fingerprint cards?

I'm not gonna say I have all the answers...but as a mod in the NFA sections of AR15, I've seen a lot of the questions. Fire away with anything you have.

There are places that sell them, like Amazon and probably eBay.

But they're free here: https://www.atf.gov/distribution-center-order-form

Fill out your info, then check the box for Fingerprint Cards. Go ahead and get a dozen or so, and choose Fd-258LE from the dropdown. They usually show up in a week or two.

And get a inkless fingerprint pad for ~$7 off Amazon. Card holder optional. (I ordered the holder, and ended up rolling my own prints before they arrived).

Well, for starters - how/where to get the required fingerprints.
And what pictures are they needing? The weapon? The stock to make it a SBR from the pistol? (its a HK SP5k, like a MP5)

But if it takes that long to get, I wouldnt have them in time for the 10 business day rule.
As for Amazon, just search for them and use a basic ink pad?

You can roll them yourself. It's really not hard at all. I'm 99.44% sure they don't even run your prints. They only run a NICS using the personal info you put on the cards.

Pics are passport style photos of you as an individual, or all RPs for an entity. I've done my own for paper forms using a photo booth app. You could do the same and use the digital copy instead of printing them out.

I have some here I could mail out tomorrow if you really think you're going to file in the next couple days.

I figured you were just starting. Order the forms today, start messing around in eForms (you can save your progress) and then submit it once you have your prints.

Your local PD can also do prints, but you might end up paying $10-$25 per card.

So I could just take a selfie and it'd work?

Yep. Right below the shoulders to just over the top of your head. This is how the app lines it up:

@HMP Just FYI the DCSO will not do your prints for you unless you take your entire filled out form to submit to the sheriff before they will do them. I told them to pound the sand as I hadn't even filled my paperwork out yet just wanted to fingerprint cards done. Also I use the colonel of the NCSHP as the CLEO that I notify mostly Bc the way the DCSO acted when I just wanted some finger print cards done.

if I already have inkpads, could I use it?

That's good to know. It's ridiculous it took this long to implement such a simple, relatively low volume database, but then again, it's the goobs...

And here's a pic of one of the cards I have, so you'll see the ORI:

ORI?

Would I need to write that in on my cards?
Ive not yet placed my order for those cards, was waiting to hear back from one of you first
Dont want to piss away 10 bucks on useless cards
I want to get on this SBR thing soon so time spring comes and it's slightly warm outside again I can go play with my HK

The cards you get from the ATF have it on there already. You'd need to write it on yours. Definition is at the link above, but it basically lets the FBI know where the results go back to.

Ordered a bunch off the provided ATF link. Thanks!

Since I am just a bit north of you, in Winston Salem, Im assuming the information for my ORI (I dont even know what that is, by the way) would be the same?

Yes. It has nothing to do with you. They all come from the ATF that way if you order the right ones.

And again...the definition of ORI (and all other fields on the cards) is in the link to the guide here on the site.

Apologies, Ive not read the information YET
Thank you for all of your help, I really appreciate it!

Don't buy the cards. I think when I requested them from the ATF site they were at my door in like 5 business days. It wouldn't surprise me if they had 1.5 FTEs at $60K a year just mailing f*cking cards. That's why it cost $200 per stamp...

Well I done did, oh well.

As info...

Ordered cards Friday 10/5, ~8p (so I'm assuming they didn't know about the order until Monday?). Cards arrived today, Friday 10/12.

Now is the time for some of y'all to jump in. Multiple reports of forms being approved in 10-12 days so far.

Of course the Eforms system is down as of right now. I wonder if it crashed due to rush of form 1's being submitted?:(:(
Did you get the email? They gave notification they were doing a reboot...at 11:45am IIRC.

These Form 1's: are they for if I wanted to build my own can?
If you wanted to build any NFA item other than a machinegun...unless you first build a time machine to go back to early 1986. :p

Have you seen any emails about why the Eforms site has been mostly down the for the last day or so?
I haven't seen anything after the earlier one posted. Or seen anybody else mention it was down...but it looks dead to me right now.

I successfully filled a couple of forms last week, it worked well. Right now it is down, yep, however the error "too many redirects" seems like their interior network configuration issue, however eForm site was never an example of reliability or performance. :)
