Somewhere in my garage I had a box with some old Bibles. Some were from when I was a kid. I only remembered/found they were in there a little bit ago. Well a couple weeks ago, somehow at work the topic of kids in church came up in the breakroom, and one of our ladies (who I know is isn't real flush with money, but she always brings snacks to share) said she needed to find a kid-friendly bible for her 6 year old daughter so she wouldn't have to try to digest KJV. Well what a coincidence! I just happened to have a "Young Discoverer's Bible" in NIV and a "Living Picture Bible" that has NT stories done up in comic strip style sitting in that old box.

I told her to remind me to go look in my garage to dig them out. That was a couple weeks ago, but she didn't remind me. Well, I remembered last weekend and put them in my trunk. She didn't want to take them, because what if I wind up with kids, or somebody in my family wants them, and don't I want to pass them down to somebody? ... well... I am passing them down, just not to my own kids or family. As long as somebody else has a chance at using them, I don't have to feel bad about throwing away Bibles. She looked inside and saw that one of them was a gift from my mom and the other was a gift to me from the Salvation Army, where I grew up. She was surprised, and as I was trying to explain that it's a real church, and I grew up at the community center where my parents volunteered... she said she was familiar with the SA because when she was a kid, SA was the primary giver of the Christmas presents she got... so, I guess that's another strange coincidence.

As a really extra bonus coincidence... this lady worked shoulder to shoulder a lot of the time with another lady we had quit yesterday and threatened to shoot up my car because I'm not nice and I never help anybody with anything... I know the crazy lady was wrong, and I know I help other people enough that I'm getting in trouble for being behind in my own work. but it's funny that these Bibles were just sitting there waiting for me to see the nice lady again while crazy lady was flipping out.

So maybe just file this story under "Mysterious Ways".

I used to buy Bibles at the flea markets when I could find them.
I would then place them on the counter at the lumber company I owned free to anyone that wanted one.
There were also free comic Bible tracts there too. It seems they left as fast as I could put them out.
There was also large bowl I kept on the corner of my desk full of “Life Savers” that all were welcome to. Only I knew that they were prayed over, that those that took one had also taken a prayer they would open the door to their salvation.
Just a little ministry I had so many years ago!
