So I plan to hunt fox when the season opens and the wife wants it mounted so pelt damage is a concern.
Shot will probably be about 50 yards and I have the following guns / calibers to pick from;
22LR rifles - semi or bolt action w/ threaded barrels and suppressors
Remington 700 in 222 (non threaded)
AR15's (all threaded) in 223, 25-223, 300 Blackout

I reload so I can customize some ammo for the centerfire guns. I can mount cans on everything but the Remington 700.

My 22LR stuff is dialed in with subsonic ammo but I can re-zero.

I can also borrow my buddies AR10 with a thermal but I think that's a bit much.

What say you?

I would think heart shots are best, because the damage can be repaired by the taxidermist... easier than haid shots, jus' sayin'.

I use a Savage 17 wsm and a Savage 17 hmr. Both have threaded barrels for my suppressor. My suppressor is a sparrow 22, that works with 22, 22 mag , 17 hmr and 17 wsm . I also have a remington 222 but get pelt damage. Don't know if 17 wsm or 17 hmr is something u might purchase in future.

I agree with above members 22 and 22 mag will work fine it all boils down to shot placement.
