I'm in the market for a mid-sized 9mm striker fired pistol.

G19......seems like everyone has one. Readily available cheap magazines, accessories, etc. I had one in the past, shot it once and gave it up. My natural POA seemed to be about 30 feet high at 5 yards. Likely least expensive.

M&Pc....feels good in the hand. Haven't shot one. Likely slightly less expensive?

XD(m)....I've always shot XDs well, my 3Gun pistol is a 5.25" XD(m), I have a pile of magazines and holsters. But, most expensive and heaviest of the bunch.

i know...this is like 9 v 45... and the right answer is "whatever you shoot best".....but looking for input anyway.

edit: if anyone has one to trade, I have a super rare, CUSTOM, 16" AR I could maybe trade....

Does the ppq fall into this size, or is it closer to Glock 17?

I had the M&P 9 in fullsized, same as the "C" except shorter. Trigger sorta sucked till I spent $165 on an Apex FSS.

Had an XDm Compact .45, but couldn't shoot it for squat.

Have a Gen 4 G19. It is a keeper (once I got the trigger straightened out with a connector, spring and some polishing).

G19 all the way. zuerjoha can give you a good deal on one. I think he has 40 of them lol

I've had the M&P 9c, and a XD Compact 9mm, and I've got a few Glock 19's. I didn't keep any of the other's lol, if that tell's you anything.
Seriously though, for me,the XD's are too heavy compared to the G-19, and mag's were a little too pricey also. As far as the M&P, I just never could get along with the trigger, and more times than not, I would keep hitting the mag release button with my support hand (big paw's) and dropping the mag while shooting. Anyway, that was some of my experience with the "other's". Good luck, they are all great guns.

PSA has a G19 and 20 Pmag deal for $549 right now

Sell each pmag for $10 and you have a $349 g19

You listed them in the order I'd choose in your title.
If I could only pick one......

GLOCK G19!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You mean they are ADVERTISING that deal...they don't actually have any in stock at that price.

Truth... been out of stock for a few days now. That said, between the three of them I'd grab a G19.

XDs just don't fit me right, and I don't like the higher bore axis either.
The M&P9c with the apex fss trigger is the bees knees; love that trigger !!

But, if you've never owned a G19 for long, go with that. Everybody should own at least a 19 and a 23; anything less is unprepared. If you'll spend a little time on one, you'll quickly see why everybody recommends them. They just run well. Don't sweat the whole Gen 4 vs Gen 3 deal, that will come several years later.

Besides, if you don't like it, 19s sell in like 5 minutes around here !

Just my .02, your mileage may vary...

I had both the XDm9c & M&P9c and wrote a brief comparison.
http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_5_10/106404_.html

In short, they're very close in every way: physically, ease of carry, shootability, reliability, quality. I preferred the XDm for the greater mag capacity, better fullsize mag option (OE sleeve vs poorly fitting X-grip), despite the M&P feeling better in hand and slightly preferring M&P novak sights.

Sorry, can't comment on the G19, not a Block guy, but they've been so popular for so long for good reason. You can't go wrong.

ETA: forgot to add, I ended up selling the M&P9c in favor of a Shield and traded the XDm9c for a 4.25" Pro Series. Shield and FS work perfectly for my needs, but I wouldn't hesitate to buy another XDm9c.

For me, it wouldn't even be a question....I'd have the XD. I've owned a number of them over the years, I shoot them well, they are simple and they just work. The only thing I didn't like about the XD compact that I had was that it was as wide as it was long. I'm a little guy so trying to conceal a double stack pistol didn't work well.

I can't stand Glocks but that's personal preference, they work. I can't shoot them for crap though.

I hated the M&P trigger and didn't like the overall feel of it.

I'll toss my vote in for the XDm compact.....you have a full size and run it well. ...familiarity is a great thing.....think I saw a bitone 9mm on the Canadian antigun forum for 450ish........I picked one up for my wife..... she shoots it better than any other pistol she has tried (other than my 1911).....stock trigger isn't bad .....much better than an M&P......I'm anti Glock so :D

I have an old M&P 9c which has > 1200 rounds through it. I can't think of a pistol that feels as good in the hand as it does; it just fits. I have an older original trigger in mine, and it is gritty and not crisp, but it works and does not compromise accuracy. I shot the XDm a lot in my research prior to buying the M&P, and I liked it - just decided to go with the S&W. I didn't consider Glocks much because everyone loves them and I am a nonconformist!

Recently, I got my first Glock 19 Gen 4, and I can see why everyone loves it. Great trigger out of the box, accurate, simple, reliable. I really like the Glock, which is now in the "ready" drawer and the M&P is in the safe.

All three of these pistols are excellent - in my humble, amateur opinion - and I think it comes down to individual preference. My brother-in-law has a Walther PPQ, which is pretty sexy, too and is close to these in size.

Happy shopping!

Have you thought about an FNS9C. I had one and really liked it. Sized in between a Glock 26 and 19 but it comes with 3 different sized mags so you can carry it compact or full size. Factory night sites are great and you can pick one up relatively cheap, even a brand new. The only down side is extra mags aren't cheap.

I'm a die hard Glock fan, so everyone knows my vote but unless you can buy blue label Glocks, the M&P is prob gonna be your cheapest option.

I've had probably 5 different XDs in the past, my competition gun is a 5.25" XD(m) and my EDC is an XDs, so striker fired is old hat. I was just considering switching over to G19 since that's what the masses seem to like...
