Gee I Wonder Who Dragged This Into My Garage?

Baby green tailed Copperhead. I was wondering why Oreo was acting weird this evening and looking for something that she once had and lost.

Hope she didn't get fanged.

She’s streetwise so to speak. She’s a barn cat and has experienced a bunch of different challenges and food opportunities.

It’s fascinating to watch cats like her interact with the wildlife.

You no like gift?!?

A friend of mine woke up Friday morning to find this one in his living room. Eleven inches long. He didn't want to take eyes off of it to go get a shovel, so he beat it to death with a baby gate.

Ok so does he leave the screens off or doors open?

Claims not to do that. His house is an old though. I suppose a snake can get in anywhere a mouse can. He's now wondering about siblings because his house-Beagle doesn't have good insurance. :) I had a baby corn snake get inside my house once and it's sealed up pretty tight. Relocated it and found no others though.

A few months ago, my 8yo daughter went to visit her grandma, next door. She sat on the couch and noticed a little black tail sticking out from under the couch. I pulled a 5 foot long rat snake out from under the couch and carried it out in da woods...

Hello insurance company, for some reason my house just burnt down...

I had an honest 9 1/2 foot Black snake living in my basement for years! Found a skin hanging over the washer one morning. I got rid of it very quickly or I would still be doing the laundry ( and living by myself!).

Water Moccasin....nice.

Is that what it was? I honestly know absolutely nothing about snakes but I did know that a juvenile copperhead has a bright yellow or green tip on it’s tail like the one in my above picture.

Btw, I scooped it up in a standing dust pan and took it outside and released it in the woods.

No, it’s a copperhead. We don’t have moccasins this far west.

You’ve got it right...it’s a juvy copperhead...I was throwing out a bit of sarcasm with my post...

Depending on who sees it, seems the only two snakes we have in NC are Cottonmouths and Copperheads, no matter the color or pattern.

I was just sitting here doing the Google thing and discovered that it wouldn’t have mattered if I got it wrong, the Cottonmouth aka Water Moccasin is just as dangerous.

I didn’t kill it, I let it go.

I saw a water moccasin asleep in the creek. Since I'm a 11 year old boy, how do I catch him becomes the first thought.
I grab a bucket and lay it down in front of him. Tap tap with a stick, and he swam right in it. Ha! Gotcha.
Man..he was pissed. Really really pissed.
Trying to get out of the bucket and hissing and displaying an impressive set of fangs, I began to question my decision.
So I'm a genius (o_O) and take him back to the house, where Mom saw him and proceeded to lose her ever-lovin' mind.
