I’m headed that way for a few days—any food/activity recommendations from the South Cackalackians? I’ve driven through Georgetown/Pawleys Island dozens of times in the past fifteen years but never stopped to explore.

Fresh Yankee served daily

I have had the privilege of duck hunting some of the plantations in that area...I was introduced on the first trip to the Big Tuna and have never had need to go anywhere else when I am there...might be the very best shrimp n grits I have ever had. Service is always fantastic...cozy inside but also has dockside seating.

Hog Heaven BBQ on 17 south at the bottom of Pawley’s Island. Country as cornbread, but the food is un freaking real

Yep, Hog Heaven has good eats and so does the River Room in Georgetown.

South of Georgetown is a good outdoor public shooting range , Twin Ponds Shooting Range.
I've been to Twin Ponds many times. I spent a lot of time in the Frances Marion forest/around Awendaw when I lived in Charleston.

River Room was great! The whole waterfront was a “success” for us—good number and variety of shops and museums.

I've only been to Georgetown once, on business. It was an interesting mix of a beautiful, quaint, coastal town with a steel mill in the middle of it. I was there for the steel mill and learned a lot about Georgetown Steel. I believe we ate at the River Room too.
