Ok, so wife went to a shooting class today. Short version, the trigger.on her shield .40 sucks; she shot one of the instructors' custom glock with a 3# trigger and now she wants one.

A. Where do I find a 3# trigger kit for a glock 19
B. How much is this going to set me back?

Never fired a glock myself; know nothing about them.

Suggestions?

They’re different ways to get there. Without knowing exactly what they had, it would be difficult to figure it out.

Have either of you shot a shield with an Apex forward set trigger kit?

I personally wouldn’t do it for a defense gun. In fact I removed the Timney competition trigger I had put in a G17.

It was 2.5lb, but would have been more like 3lbs if the trigger wasn’t already a 4lb trigger when I put it in.

The Glock performance trigger claims 4# and the one I have seems a bit lower than that.
Like others I had already mentioned I would not recommend it for a EDC.

Those Apex FSS Triggers are a real game changer in any M&P of any flavor, 1.0 or 2.0.

The OEM "-" connector is 3.5lbs. It is kind of mushy, but you can swap different trigger assemblies to you find one that is crisp.

I own a couple of 19s , I have a Timney that’s light and crisp , but maybe a little too light for carry unless you’re very familiar with it and shoot it often. I used it today to place 17 out of 52 shooters at a pistol match.
I have another 19 with an Overwatch precision trigger nice improvement over factory trigger, but not so light either. Plus pretty sure I paid less than 100 for it

I assume that since you’ve never fired a Glock, you don’t have one and need to purchase the 19 too, and then buy parts to improve the trigger? Personally I would recommend buying something that already has a good trigger. HK VP9, Walther PDP, Canik ect… if she really just likes the Glock platform, check out Shadow Systems. (Essentially a custom Glock with a great trigger).

Is this just a range toy?
If it’ll be a defensive weapon I wouldn’t screw with it.
I’ve considered an option that’s been mentioned elsewhere, an outfit polishes up the OEM firing group.
@BatteryOaksBilly might know who that is

I loved that trigger when I shot the Glock 20 and 21. Any google search should show multiple places to get them . Don’t know if Glock still does this but the couple of times I sent mine back they took the trigger out , put it in a bag and replaced it with a 5 pound trigger. They did send the 2.5 back with the pistol just not installed.

That’s something that is extremely easy to DIY. You’d be crazy to pay a company to do that. Little mother’s mag wheel polish and a polishing cloth or felt wheel on a dremel and just hit all the contact points. Lots of videos on YouTube if you’re unsure how to do it or disassemble.

I'm a recent entry in to the Glock world, so I'm no expert, but I'd suggest moving forward on the trigger mods in steps.

1. Look up a video on polishing the contact points in the trigger system
2. Get a Ghost Inc Ultimate 3.5 trigger kit

Together, that'll cost about $25. This is what I did and the trigger feels amazing. I wouldn't want a crazy light pull on a carry gun.

I really don’t understand the logic behind the Shadow Systems. You can not out Glock a Glock.
PSA dagger? there is a price component.
Polymer 80? DIY, totally get it.
Zev? Want a race gun, got it.

But for same or more money but less proven reliability than a Glock? I guess cool slide cuts mean something to somebody….

If she wants a Glock with a light trigger I would definitely go with the drop in timney Alpha. That thing is awesome.

Personally I think it's too light for a carry gun but in the world of Glocks it's a dang nice trigger.

I thought they did more than that, but it’s still OEM components that look original.
I buffed mine up years ago to make it smoother, but not make any changes in sear release or pull weight.

They don’t. That’s literally all you can do. It might make someone feel better about the purchase but make no mistake. All they do is polish it…

1. More expensive = more betterer
2. Texans would buy dog poop if it had a Made in Texas label on it

This. Install this, then try the different weight springs that comes with it to get it to your liking.

None of this is necessary. The gen 5 trigger is very smooth. Spend the $$ on a case of 9mm and train.

+1

It might FEEL good, but with practice, it's really not much of a difference except on the square range.

If you go with this trigger, read the instructions. It requires special maintenance.

Any suggestions for a gen 2 model 17?
Ghost connector helps a lot by itself. You can also swap out the trigger spring [which is all the way in the back.]
This is a helper spring so a stronger spring makes the pull lighter.

Lightest pull also needs a lighter striker spring which isn't the best idea for a defensive gun.

My gen 2 17 now has a very very nice trigger.
