Just a quick update on my trusty G34 for those of you following the saga. I've not been shooting as much in general so the round count on the G34 isn't going up as fast as before but I did hit 39k rounds this weekend.
Full disclosure, it's not 99.99% steel case any longer. Turns out that the Silver Bear 115gr I've been running for the last 1500 rounds is basically +P+. I'm getting an average of 1340fps out of it over the chrono on two seperate occasions. That's.... fast. Recoils a lot too, so in matches I've been running some old 115gr reloads that are 200 fps slower and reduce my split times by 25% compared to the silver bear. Figure 5-6 matches since then, so an easy 600 rounds of brass mixed in with that 38k+ rounds of steel.
No damage after the broken striker and slide release replaced, but the rear of the slide and the rear sight are rusting. Probably from sun screen on my hands and me putting my thumb on the back of the slide while reholstering. Not sure where I picked that habit up. Optics plate screws were loose, but torqued back before the plate really rattled.
Anyway, some photos to mark the occasion. Onward to 40k!
Still looking good:
Not too much barrel or hood wear:
Crack in the firing pin channel hasn't changed any:
Nothing odd in the frame itself:
Just a touch of rust:
