I’ve become quite fond of carrying a Glock 43 over the past few years, but there are times when something smaller would be nice. I’ve been considering a Glock 42 for those times but I just don’t know if it’s worth the marginal decrease in size. Those of you that have had experience with both, what do you think?

I’m not terribly interested in other options like the LCP or what have you.

It's hugely noticeable, imo. Doesn't seem like it would be but it is quite smaller and lighter.

My 43 also has a light, which increases size even more. Now the difference is pretty dramatic. Also back up mag is heavier. I love my 42 and carry it most of the time. Likely the only .380 I would ever carry.

If I can only have one I'd do the 43 or 43x. But if you want options, the 42 is a handy little gun and it shoots GREAT for what it is.
I like small Glocks and don't mind some overlap. I wouldn't mind adding a 43X to my choices. And if they made a 42X MOS I would buy one tomorrow!

I have both 42, 43 and 43x. The 42 is just small enough to pocket carry in cargo shorts. When it's cooler it's the 43 or 43x for me. 3 excellent choices. In fact the 43x might just replace one of my 19's assuming the new Dagger 15 rnd mags prove reliable in my 43x.

I don’t have a 42 but one major advantage to it over a 43 is rapid follow up shots. It’s like shooting a much larger gun in my opinion.

I have a G42 and G43. There is a difference in size and weight but, not much. If you want something smaller than the G43, look at the Ruger LCP Max. Smaller than the G42 and G43, holds 10 or 12 rounds.

My wife carries the 42 in her purse and I pocket carry the 43 in Truspec 24/7 pants daily. I have a 42 also. I like the feel of the 43 over the 42. My wife likes the 42 versus the 43. For the smallest pocket carry, the bodyguard with Apex trigger and polish is the deep carry gun.

I love my G42 and it was my primary carry gun for several years before going to a P365X. It's a great lightweight carry, pocket carry or even a good backup gun. I added the +2 basepads to all my magazines which in addition to a few more rounds gave a little more real estate on the grip grip. Due to the lower capacity I always carried two spare magazines for 21 rounds total. It's a very easy and fun pistol to shoot!

Congrats on making your choice. Both pistols have a strong reputation, and the little Glock 380 is known for having almost no recoil.
