Hello Everyone,

I'm new to the site and I have a question re: the shield arms s15 magazine. I have a 43x and I put 15 rounds through no issues. Another 15 and Jam after #2. Another 15 no issues. Another 15 jam after #3. Another 15 no issues. Another 15 the mag fell out of the gun after 2 shots. I mean really? After doing some research I realized that I should have done some research.

Did you change out the factory plastic magazine release? Metal magazines are hard on a plastic release .

No. I didn't realize that I needed to do that. I would have never bought the mag. The response from Shield arms "Glock does vary in its tolerances, we know it is not always going to work for every gun and every frame" I mean this is just ridiculous. Maybe they should advertise properly. Glock rebuild kit to accommodate a shield arms s15 mag. and include the metal release. Then dummies like me would be like. Uh, wait, I have to do what to my gun to make this thing that was sold for my gun does not fall out? Or include bubble gum or a rubber band. Something that says HEY DON'T use this mag in a stock glock

I mean.... It's kinda right there on the order page for them.....

Just saying that it shouldn't say RECOMMEND, it should say. If you put this in your gun without changing the catch then it will most likely fall out of your weapon so don't depend on it. You absolutely WILL have reliability issues if you don't change the catch

Buy the catch and enjoy a very fine carry weapon. Or sell it to me and I’ll have a third in the rotation.

Wellll not necessarily. I didn’t change mine out for a good while and had zero issues. Two other buddies did the same. No issues. Eventually I put a Hyve mag release in there. Ended up selling the gun because I got hooked on the Sig 365. Now I want another one, except the time I want the MOS.

It does kinda suck, but I guess it’s the trade off to be able to go from a mag that holds 15 instead of 10.

The funny thing about Glock “perfection” is that it’s the one model of gun that I know for absolute certain I’m gonna have to upgrade. Can’t stand the factory sights. Don’t like the slide catch. Etc. After all the other crap I end up replacing, the mag catch is just another item on the list.

I'm having a heck of a time finding someone to make a Holster for the MOS because of the front rail. I currently have an order in at G-code. My previous order with the holster company I typically use was canceled.

Got my S15 mags in, just need a range trip to test them. (Mag release is replaced)

Watchdog Tactical makes and stocks holsters for the 43X MOS. I bought mine at a gun show where they were set up, but you can order off their website. NC company, too.

@RR makes a fine holster for them.

Promag is making a 15 round mag that is not supposed to require a mag catch change.

I’d rather trust my life with a rock than a pro mag.

“Please remember our magazines are garbage” aka promag

Full disclosure, I don’t use Promags in mine. I thought it worth a little extra cost to reliably use Shield Arms mags. I ran several hundred rounds to sigh the gun before carrying it to make sure they worked for me. They do.

@Barmer id buy the mag release honestly. It’s one of the best carry options as folks have stated here.

I have the mag release and several of the mags...never had a single issue. They do sell them in kits with everything...but from what i read it is a MUST...

Good luck

So my 25 year old in the Navy said that I'm just learning. My 21 yr old said damn that sucks my 18 year old said that I was being a Karen and a Kevin and my 4 year old just smacked me in the face and told ME to calm down. I'm gonna order the metal release 🤪

Hahaha, looks like you got out-voted, @Barmer . I think you'll enjoy the G43X once you get the release installed.

So where are y’all buying your S-15 mags? Cheapest I’m finding is $40 apiece.

Thanks

That is what I paid for mine from Midway or Brownells. Can’t remember which.

I believe I got mine at Primary arms and they were a little cheaper. Yep, just checked $32.99

So I bought the release and the mag says in and jams and jams and jams. I sent it back to shield arms and they replied that it was in spec. You don't even want to see the response I got. I bought a new s15 and it jammed on number 6. I haven't tried it again. My oems work fine. Never 1 jam. What else should I do? Probably just put my oem release back in and enjoy the reliability of my stock glock.

I haven't had the chance to try mine yet. For now I'm carrying with stock mags.

You might want to check your mag release for damage from the metal mags.

Have you changed any other parts in your glock, extractor, springs, anything? How many rounds does the glock have through it? Is the jam when you are shooting or hand cycling? Is your grip firm? Is this factory ammo, quality ammo, etc?

Seems really strange when many others are having good results.

Thanks for your response no sir. Everything is stock except the release. I have put approximately 1000 rounds through the gun. It jams when I'm shooting. I have not tried to hand cycle but I will. The ammunition is usually federal or blazer. I do have a firm grip and I have also had both of my boys try with the same results. I agree that its strange but it has been my experience since day 1. I have never had a jam with the oems so I'm just at a loss.
