Recently I have started back to carrying a Glock 43 due to its slim and smaller features. I normally carry a 19 G5. I added a Tango down +2 from Vickers Tactical to the 43 mag to make it an 8 round magazine. It’s reliable and I enjoy it BUT, concealment is no better with that magazine on than a 26 or even a 19. So I switched back to a factory magazine and use the Tango Down Vickers +2 as a back up. I have also decided to carry my 26 a bit more where I can carry 10 rounds and reload with a 15,17 or greater mag. I shoot them all roughly the same with a nod going to the 19. Here are photos just to show the difference to just illustrate my point.

These are my 3 main carry guns. The 26 is a real Goldilocks gun for me, but the 43 gets carried from time to time in the summer. I always carry with flush OEM mags.

I've got a Taran Tactical +1 extention I use for the carry mag. It adds just a sliver of height to the gun. The Tango Down +2 is a good back-up magazine for a pocket.
Take note of the Hogue grip sleeve I use. I'm willing to bet this makes the grip nearly the same width as a G26. Something I hadn't really ever paid attention to until now.

They each have a place in the gun safe. I haven’t tried the Taran Tactical base pad yet. I do have a Hyve plus one I forgot to show in the photos but, the 43 is thinner and the 26 is not really that much different aside from the width which isn’t traditionally the worst part to conceal.

Someone willing to post a comparison photos with a 43x/48 and a 26 and 19?

I ended up getting rid of the 43, the 26 could do everything it could do in terms of concealment and I like that the grip on the G26 as it's more like my G34 competition gun, plus in the winter I can pop in a G19 mag with the x-grip widget on it and have myself a short barreled G19, or maybe a 26x would be more correct in the current glock naming scheme.

For as 'outdated' or 'obsolete' as the G26 is on paper, it's still my go-to 90% of the time only to be replaced by a micro-sized 380 when deep concealment is required. Good thing I don't have to keep up on the trends!

I'm starting to shoot my 26 again and thinking about getting rid of the 43 for the same reasons. I just shoot that little 43 better than so many other guns including the 26. I honestly shoot the 43 as well as most of my 19's which is crazy.

Everyone likes shooting the 43, it's sorta magic like that.

You don't hear that love for the 43x though (or 48 or whatever the longer version is).

I bought a 43x when they came out and didn't shoot it well and couldn't see the point after carrying it a little. I have 2 43's and they just work well for me.

Here is my glock 43x on right in pictures and glock 48 on left. I carry shield arms 15 round magazines. Also I took recover tactical rail off and olight mini 2 are always on glock 43x. Hope this helps. I don't have glock 19 .20210804_201336.jpg20210804_201416.jpg20210804_201424.jpg20210804_201454.jpg20210804_201501.jpg20210804_201854.jpg

My 43 has mystical powers. My 48, not so much. I’d get rid of it, but I purportedly bought it for the missus, who is waiting on her CHP to show up, but she’ll never carry it. Or anything else.

I dumped my first 43 only to buy another. I'm so conflicted about it because I shoot it well and it works for me as a carry gun but I don't feel any connection with it. All my other handguns have this je ne sais quoi the glock lacks. Maybe that's what's special, I don't care about it so if it gets confiscated as evidence in a dgu, whatever.

Lol no. Je ne sais quoi is French for I don't know what, that special something that's not tangible.
My 43 has that Jenny says something. It shoots like a laser, regardless of how long ago the last time I shot it was. I have never had another gun like that, of any shape or size.

My 43 is dang accurate only time it isn’t is when I don’t do my part. It’s odd how well I do with it.

The one thing I have found with the little guns, and the Glock 43 in particular is that you have to keep a fresh recoil spring in when carrying. There was a thread about the 43 in the Pistol Forum about this in particular. I keep a separate recoil spring for my Shield just for practice.
FYI.
Right now its near impossible to find a G43 RSA.

I am a glock fan over sig for sure. I believe the G19 Gen 5 is like a Porsche GT2, evolution of the series approaching perfection.

That said, check out the Sig 365 as well.

As well as this 43 runs for me, I don’t shoot it much. I am guessing I don’t have more than 1000-1200 rounds through. What’s your assessment of the half life of their recoil springs?

Clockwise: G27, Kahr PM9, Smith Airweight, Hellcat & G43.
EDC are the Hellcat

@Jayne do you have an issue with the grip angle difference between the G26 and G34?
Due to the longer grip the hump on the back of the G34, the front sight is much higher compared to my G27.

I notice it, but "issue", not so much. I've practiced with them often enough that each just sorta works, although I can tell the difference in the triggers as my G26 feels more precise and less clapped out that the G34. if you can call any OEM glock trigger precise.

Actually I can still flip back to my 1911 without drama so that whole "wrong grip angle" thing doesn't apply to me anymore. Finger grooves, no finger grooves, whatever... sight alignment trigger press and BANG and we're fine. Unless we're talking about a hi point, then... it's just all wrong.

You saved a gun that shoots like $&@£ for your wife?

Everything ok?

If a G43 was my carry gun, after 1000 rounds I'd move that recoil spring to practice only. Then I would keep a fresh one in while carrying at all times. You should be able to get 3-5k on that RSA depending on what you're shooting. If you put a lot of +P and Nato rounds, then 3k at most. Just plain target ammo...5k.
The 43/43X/48 RSA is not as tight as most others.

If I can get outside 7 yards she’ll never be able to hit me.
Here is that thread for your consideration. Interesting points there.

Get 'em while you can. I've bought from Big Tex before with no issues.

I had Pearce Grip +1 mag extensions for my 43. They didn’t work worth a crap and had horrible reliability. So I bought a Hyve +1 and Vickers +2 all work well. I reached out to Pearce customer service. Turns out the 43 has had 2 magazine updates since being new. The original mag then a 01 version and recently a 02 version. I had the wrong version for my magazines. The man asked me to drill a hole in the old grip adapters and he would send me the correct ones out free of charge. I did and sent the photo and I got the parts 2 days later. They work wonderfully with no flaws. I knew Pearce traditionally has no issues so I was glad I reached out to them.

Thanks. I haven't used them before but was able to get some parts I haven't seen in stock for awhile.
