Good read...Glock intends to bring their MHS entry to the civilian market...no timeline, but it is coming. This is not the G5.

"ESD: Will there be a version of the Glock Modular Handgun System pistol for the commercial market? Flür: Yes. We think this is a great pistol and would like to give all interested parties the opportunity to try and purchase it. All costs associated with the development of the pistol were financed by Glock, so it is also possible to market the pistol independently. Of course, we will be able to make good use of the experience gained from completing this project. Some aspects will certainly be reflected in future Glock products."

What distinguishes this from a gen 5?
Looking at the pic., FDE, thumb safety, lanyard loop, extended baseplates (I understand they make those for contracts). Thought the solicitation called for 1913 rail, but pic does not reflect that. Might be the lighting, grip doesn't look flared?

Not sure how this will turn out, but the tested G19 MHS used a modified 17 frame with a 19 slide...holds full size 17 mags. In June Glock stated they would never sell a pistol with a manual safety, so that may come off.

What makes it "modular"?

I thought that was sig's thing where the fire control group comes out and you can use that in any number of frame/slide/barrel combos to build-a-bear pistol to whatever you wanted it to do. I personally like that idea myself (even though I don't own any sigs).

This looks like a G19 slide/G17 frame with a total crap bag safety on it. Did they steal hi-point's safety design figuring they wouldn't sue them over it?

The nice thing about it is the unneeded thumb safety. But, luckily, theres a lanyard loop to slow down reloads.
