GM's $1,500 OnStar subscription a mandatory "option"

They should just have the stones to say they are charging a $1500 surcharge for their vehicles like certain motorcycle manufacturers are doing.

People will pay it, just another monthly fee or something tacked on to that 84 month loan they won't think about.

Everyone selling something is going to try this crap and kids who grow up not owning anything and constantly paying for everything forever will accept it. Then they'll just make memes about old people saying stuff like "I used to own the things I bought" and get a chuckle as they get into their leased self driving car and scroll through their state approved 'news' on their leased phone and return to their leased house and wave to their leased camera setup that sends images to 'the could' to verify their ID to unlock the front door, all for a minor monthly charge.

Yep, ainā€™t buying it.

Crossed off the list.

This. I am in the market for a midsized truck and had my options narrowed down to a Tacoma or Colorado/Canyon. The Colorado has more headroom, so I was leaning that way until I notice the OnStar requirement. Now I am just waiting for prices to settle before ordering a Tacoma
