Crap is building up on me between the deal in Atlanta and just in general. Squared things away so nothing spoils for a few days so I'm gonna disappear. Plan to start around West Jeff and fish whatever piece of a river strikes my fancy that I can see from the pavement. Wind up wherever I wind up and use a fictitious name......

W Jeff is a good place to start, you might not want to go anywhere else. Be safe.

Hit up Zooloos canoes and rent a boat to float the New River for a half day. They pick you up at the state park.
 
Looks like he is already on his Journey. Kind of wanted to know how he was going to deal with sleeping. Just sleep on the river bank?

Well hell, if I could have stayed up there this week I would have offered up a smoker for the fish.

Mountains. Near the New River. Probably camping but we have a house near West Jefferson with a covered porch and a smoker. Plus a few comfortable chairs. It’s about all I need.

Thats my kind of place. Wouldnt work for me though. My kids would end up screwing around and probably set the house on fire. If we end up staying in NC forever we will end up in the mountains eventually. I like the roads up there. People are more my style. More nature... less trash etc. Need to stay away from college towns though.

Best fish I have ever had were the mountain trout I caught up in Brevard. I almost didnt come home.

Second best was probably Steelhead from central Michigan. You fisherman ever go to Michigan try to do it when the steelhead are running.

Where I am at I like getting in the Haw river (about 50 yards from my house) and fishing for Channel Cat. I do some snorkeling for crayfish... crawdads ....whatever you call the river roaches down here.
