My son in law is looking for a taste of Texas.

Does anyone know of a good authentic Mexican or Texas beef BBQ restaurant in the Durham area?

Thanks!

I dunno how authentic it is but I've eaten at El Dorado off NC55 a couple times passing thru and enjoyed it.

The only authentic Mexican cuisine I've had was on the Baja and haven't had anything close in 42 states.

Never been to Texas, so I can’t speak to authenticity but Nanas Tacos is my favorite Taco spot, and Mez is my favorite Mexican place.

Not quite Durham, but Fiesta Grill on NC54 just outside Carrboro does killer authentic Mex food. Tiny little place, but the tacos are to die for & the scratch made salsa verde is wicked.

Gonza?
Tell me moar...

Uppity Mexico City type mexican. The rich part of Mexico City!
Not like the holes that we frequent.

But it's legit. Maybe the only Mexican place where they know how to cook med rare steak, and they put it in their epic tacos.

Good Mexican in Durham? One awesome part about having a Latino-rich population. Most of them are good. For muy authentico I like Tacos Jr., a little food wagon. There are a couple roach coaches that are tons better than for-real restaurants. For sit-down, Tamale Factory, Mez, Guanajuato...also El Corral and Torero's (bigger).

The lamb shank at Torero's will make a fat boy twitch.
