Hope this is the right spot. Found an odd coin and was hoping for a bit of information on it. 2021 Washington crossing the Delaware. Very odd die mistake. All my coin books are MIA currently.
Got odd coin. Anyone collecting?

Error coin.
Looks like a Quarter struck on a Nickel planchet.

Or it has spent its like going round and round in a clothes dryer. If it had been stuck on a nickle planchet the detail along the rim would be incomplete.
The thing about that coin is that it’s such an obvious flaw that it shouldn’t have made it out, but if it did it would immediately be recognized as something unique. It wouldn’t have as much wear as it has.
Moreover, while I can imagine making a coin that looks like that, I can’t see how it would happen in the stamping process. I’m no expert, so maybe there is a way, you tell me.
Also, it doesn’t help that you’re taking pictures as if were a UFO or bigfoot.
So, I call it a hoax, maybe yours or maybe someone elses.

Also the edge would not be copper colored. Nickels are the same metal all the way through. And there would not be a raised rim, since the quarter die is larger than a nickel.

That looks like the beginning process to make a ring from a coin. It could possibly be a coin that was modified or being modified for a necklace or bracelet. I really have no clue.
