I've been smelling coolant for months from my 2020 grand cherokee and
have had to add coolant 3x over the past months. While it was under warranty Heister Jeep couldn't find a leak. Took it today to Deacon Jones and they found it, a seep from the radiator. Fortunately I have an extended warranty because it is now out of warranty and is a $1k repair. Highly recommend deacon jones in smithfield, great folks. Heister not so much.

I had a service department try that "out of warranty" BS with me once over something that had been repeatedly taken in for them to fix and they "couldn't find the problem". It was a radio problem. If you can't find the radio problem, replace the d*mn radio. Suddenly, after the warranty had run out, they determined the radio needed replacing and I had to foot the entire bill.

I told them they could pack sand, they had repeatedly had the vehicle in the shop to fix the problem and didn't do so before the warranty had expired and I had the records to prove it.

Here's a hint when this happens with a dealership: They'll likely have a customer service hotline which goes to the dealership's vehicle manufacturer...like Ford. Not to the dealership itself. Ask for it. Call it right there and explain what is going on. The manufacturer does NOT like having customers upset at their products, because word of mouth affects their bottom line. Dealerships don't make money off of warranty work, or at least not much. The customer doesn't pay for the warrantied parts and the labor is set and paid for by the manufacturer. So time spent on factory warranty work is less productive for them, sometimes even costing the dealership compared to non-warranty work.

Tell the people at the Ford customer service hotline you're displease to the point where you can hear the Heartbeat of America over stuff like this and shortly the dealership service department manager will be getting a call.

Not a car, but I had this happen with a new bobcat mower some years back. With 60 hours, the mower broke a belt. Dealer said belts aren’t covered under warranty.
New belt was like $130

At 100 hours. Breaks another belt.

Instead of calling the dealer again, I called Bobcat, told them what happened and asked them how many $130 belts I was gonna have to buy. They took my info and apparently called the dealer I bought it from and raised hell.
Dealership called me the next day and said “hey there’s a recall issue for your mower deck, if you’ll bring it to us, we’ll put on the necessary parts.”

Took it next day, they added a pulley to the deck, replaced the belt, and gave me a store credit for the cost of two of those $130 belts.

My Dad and Mom go way back with now owners (Ken, Tina, Dale). They are good people.
