When I was 3 1/2 my Grandpa died. Fast forward 15 years I was graduating high school. My Mema was one of these ladies that you would never think for a second she had a gun of any kind in her house. For graduation she gave me this .22 that belonged to Grandpa. A Winchester Model 290. It was such a great surprise to me that she had thought to save it for me for 15 years. A couple of years ago my wife contacted a friend who does leatherwork and had him make this sling with both mine and Grandpa’s initials stamped in it. This rifle means more to me than any other in my safe.
 
That was an awesome gift with an even better story with sentimental meaning. I’m sure your grandpa would want you to use it with pride and to think of him every time you shoot.

Beautiful. Those things are real squirrel slayers.
 
My Grandpa died when I was 18. Fast forward to May last year, my father gave me my Grandpa's Marlin 336 waffletop that was, thankfully, never messed with. Sentimental value is more important that the intrinsic value of a hand me down firearm.

Great rifle and sling! It does mean something special when you inherit a firearm from a relative like that.
 
I agree, great rifle and sling. I have my father's 1911 that he was issued in Korea. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
