My FIL worked for AT&T Underseas Group, he said in the middle of the night in the middle of the ocean, those would come in at wave top level and turn the Sun on.

He said their lights would damn near blind you.

My sister in law was a Clark field in the PI when the volcano erupted. At that time she was a O5 nurse and stayed behind when most of the base was evacuated. She was moved to the Theodore Roosevelt with her medical team and then launched/catapulted in a Greyhound at sea. What a ride!

I was on Diego Garcia, we got no mail for weeks after that. My car ended up getting repossessed because of it. 😂😂

Nothing I loved more than being down and dirty at 200 ft, yankin and bankin. At my station we rode side saddle, made it that much more fun.

The problem I had in the COD was I could not see anything, and we had no warnings on when the AC was going to do anything. We did have warning of course for trapping, and we knew from the pitch of the engines when we were launching, but even still it came at a surprise. So we flew level, then a violent turn to port for the break, rapid decent, etc.

I had no windows either, but like you said you pick up other cues.
