Thanks for having this great forum. I’ve been lurking in the background for a couple days and decided this is a good place to hang my hat for a spell.
I’m a retired Tradesman (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrician). I also owned & operated a small gun shop in Upstate NY that I closed when we moved to SC in ‘05. The move was prompted by NY’s ignorant gun suppression laws and terrible taxes combined with a sky high cost of living and Nasty weather.
I’m an avid shooter of both rifles & handguns, some of which I’ve built myself. I reload for everything I shoot. I have even dabbled in reloading rimfire ammo just in case there is a need someday. But I usually purchase rimfire ammo.

Welcome to CFF!

I spent almost half my 20 year Navy career in Charleston. Beautiful area.

I used to drive out to Twin Ponds Rifle Range all the time to shoot. Haven't been shooting there in a number of years, though. Last time I went they had a nice covered bench shooting area set up which wasn't there back in the 90s. Used to be just some bench tables out in the open. So that was nice.

Just googled some images for "twin ponds rifle range, sc" and it's looking even better now.

Here's the SC DNR page for it:

They are correct. Upstate NY is pretty but cold and snowy in the Winter. Some folks think upstate is anywhere outside of NY City but not me. Upstate is north of the Thruway.
@RS took a road trip this spring to Niagra then across to Maine...said it was nice. She then went to Boston for a Baseball game and came down the Outer Banks Sea Highway. By the time she got off the last ferry she had any of the bad parts of Yankee land washed out of her system.😀😃😄😁👌🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️🙋‍♀️

Welcome, we're happy to have you with us.
