Group Buy: Woody's Rifle Range is for sale...

are they accepting new applications?

Application is still open on the website.
If I was already considering joining, I wouldn't let this stop me. It may not sell at all, and if it does then just move on to another range or whatever. Make the most of it while you can, it's an awesome facility.

Agreed, fantastic facility.

The smell of old cooking oil and rotten cheeseburgers is the reason for the high price.
Once all this stuff in the area goes in, say bye bye to gun ranges within 50 miles!

The only thing that I am not a huge fan of is the fact that if you're a guest of a member, you have to pay to shoot. Guess I'm spoiled by my range where we do not charge for guests.

Members without friends probably appreciate that there aren't a lot of groups coming in all the time, but $40 does seem a tad expensive.

I haven’t checked recently but Frontline Defense charged $20/hr for non-members (friends of guests included). Woody’s is an all day price and most people go for hours. Doesn’t make it cheaper but does seem more reasonable to me than other places

Frontline, non-members (Guests and visitors) have access only on Saturdays and Sundays. 1000 yard range is restricted to qualified members only.

$26 per hour, visitors (not guests).

Guests get full-day access for $42.

I know years ago when I was a member they were pretty busy and it was sometimes hard to get a bay. but still a really nice facility.

Frontline is also a very nice place as well (I would be a member if it wasn't so far)

I tried to join in January, but was told that I missed the last new member training and "this will be the last training for several months". I wonder if I should even bother changing ranges now.

Did some research on Vinfast.

Seems they cover all the bases in Vietnam. Someone mentioned communism earlier in this thread. Well, Vin Group has VinSchool which is the largest K-12 school system in Vietnam. Then they have VinUni which is a college. Once graduated, students can then apply for jobs at one of Vin Group‘s many companies that deal in various technologies and services, like VinSmart, VinAI and VinBigData Or VinWonders amusement park or VinMec hospitals, VinHome real estate and of course, Vinfast Auto.

The Vietnamese currency is the Dong and in 2022 VinGroup made 12.8 Trillion Dong. In 2022, VinFast sold 24,000 cars globally. 😳 By comparison, Ford sold 4.2 million, yet the VinFast stock price indicates the company is worth more than Ford right now. Hmm… I would say if you invest in VinFast you will get some Vietnamese Dong too. 😄🍆🤷‍♂️

I mean I know I don't keep up with the news or much of anything outside of work and some sports and all, but this is the first time I'm hearing of Vinfast in general.

As my wife reminds me, the dong is pretty worthless. 12.8 trillion profit is less than $600 mil USD. In a non third world economy, they’d be a medium sized business. Ford had 23 billion profit in 2022.
These valuations are insane.

When I joined woody mentioned the vinfast plant going in. I let my membership expire and didn't renew but mainly because I have a private range. It just didn't make sense but I did it original for more options. Only went like 3 times over the first year. Lol

Any recent updates on Woody's? Considering joining in a few weeks - but don't want to eat $500 if it closes.

I was there yesterday afternoon. The corkboard had numerous new member badges pinned up. If a sale was imminent he wouldn't be bringing on new members.

Right on. I'll be out there on the 14th for the orientation. Just was curious if anyone had heard anything new.

A member told me he had spoken to Woody recently and no offers have been received close to his asking price. Woody also told him that he had received unsolicited offers to buy the property over years past.

It's a great facility, hope to see you there.
