The wife and I are road tripping to Maine in a couple weeks.

Any good, large, gun shops or reloading shops between here and there that are worth checking out?

Anything else worth stopping at?
At almost any of the seafood restaurants on the coast that have outdoor/covered eating areas. There must be wood picnic tables. I'm not talking chain establishments!

Not sure there's many left though...

We lived near the Kittery trading post and seldom shopped there because we didn’t like their attitude. The gun guys didn’t have time to talk with you and seemed to be condescending if they did. They are expensive but some times we could find good deals on excellent clothing but it was hit or miss.

Shooters Outpost was way better… the people were willing to help and explain things to my wife.

Don’t forget to visit the SIG pro shop in Epping NH… it is the best candy store in the nation, if you have a few bucks to spend… one of the managers is a good friend of my son and would often let us use his 50% discount So we have a bunch of SIGs.

Petey’s on Rt 1 A in Rye NH - They have the best best fried clams on the eastern Seacoast. (the best used to be a very small clam shack near the northern end of the Cape Cod Canal but it went away about 30 years ago. it took me years to find Petey’s)

Do the 1A drive along the Seacoast from Mass (start in Salisbury beach) to Portsmouth with a side trip on 1B thru Newcastle And a stop at the Great Island Common to see the entrance to the Piscataqua River and The Portsmouth harbor.
Also a stop at Strawberry bank and the US Albacore Museum in Portsmouth.

Portland ME has a ton of stuff on Commercial St…

We lived near the NH Seacoast for over 30 years and know a bit about it.

if mountains are your thing do the Rt 93 drive thru Franconia notch and the loop over to North Conway on 302
Mt Washington Cog Railway and/or a drive up Mt Washington is a blast…
A side trip up Rt 16 past Storyland to the Jackson covered bridge can be interesting. If you do that look down river - and up - you might be able to see an octagonal home that belongs to a friend.. we spent many nights there enjoying the view of the river, bridge, and Mt Washington while sipping a bit of wine.

I could tell you about the great NASCAR short tracks in CT, MA, NH, VT, and ME, but figure that Is not what younare looking for.

I'm specifically looking for gun/reloading shops.

My nose has never had a problem finding good food. ;)

OK.
we have purchased weapons from Granite State Range and Gun Shop In Nashua, and Renaissance Firearms in Barrington… both decent to work with, but Shooters outpost was my goto for anything not SIG. - the non SIG stuff includes 7 rifles and 2 handguns.. so it wasn’t like we are one gun owners.

After trying to find a holster for one of our SIG P220 at Kittery and at first being ignored followed by an attitude, we never when back to the gun section. BTW It was a weekday and not busy…… Many of our friends had the same type thing happen to them at KTP so it was not a one off thing.

Checked out Kittery today. Nice store and man is it a huge place.

Prices aren't great, but about what I expected. Picked up some small pistol primers while I was there.

Kittery Trading Post used to have a shed down the road just over the NH state line.

If a NH resident dropped enough coin, they would send an employee over to the shed with the merchandise. Only then would goods and cash exchange hands. NH folks have a well deserved reputation for being skinflints and a distinct dislike for paying sales or any other type of taxes.

Riley's was great until it was sold. It used to be the perfect example of an old time gun shop. I am still impressed with how many guns they could fit in that store. It went downhill fast as soon as the new ownership took over.

Shooter's Outpost has a good selection but became somewhat of a pariah in the gun community by asking customers purchasing ammo or standard capacity magazines for ID because they were helping Maura Healy enforce the insane laws of the People's Republic of Marxachusetts a good forty miles inside NH! 🤬 if the ID was MA, no ammo without a MA FOID and no standard capacity magazines at all.

Stateline Guns, Ammo and Archery on Rte 125 is another decent shop. I think it's in Plaistow NH.

This isn't on the coast. Last trip to my sisters in June I stopped in here. Decent place. A little too 'tacticool' for what I was looking for.
