Anything else worth stopping at?
Petey’s on Rt 1 A in Rye NH - They have the best best fried clams on the eastern Seacoast. (the best used to be a very small clam shack near the northern end of the Cape Cod Canal but it went away about 30 years ago. it took me years to find Petey’s)
Do the 1A drive along the Seacoast from Mass (start in Salisbury beach) to Portsmouth with a side trip on 1B thru Newcastle And a stop at the Great Island Common to see the entrance to the Piscataqua River and The Portsmouth harbor.
Also a stop at Strawberry bank and the US Albacore Museum in Portsmouth.
Portland ME has a ton of stuff on Commercial St…
We lived near the NH Seacoast for over 30 years and know a bit about it.
if mountains are your thing do the Rt 93 drive thru Franconia notch and the loop over to North Conway on 302
Mt Washington Cog Railway and/or a drive up Mt Washington is a blast…
A side trip up Rt 16 past Storyland to the Jackson covered bridge can be interesting. If you do that look down river - and up - you might be able to see an octagonal home that belongs to a friend.. we spent many nights there enjoying the view of the river, bridge, and Mt Washington while sipping a bit of wine.
I could tell you about the great NASCAR short tracks in CT, MA, NH, VT, and ME, but figure that Is not what younare looking for.
