Didn't know where to post this Sad 1911 story from the range yesterday.

Helping a range officer friend yesterday when a guy in the pistol range came up and asked me for help with his 1911
he said he bought a new barrel, compensator, barrel bushing combo from Sarco, but the gun wouldn't cycle, he said he bought a 11lb
recoil spring because he read online that the compensator was slowing down the action so a weaker spring was needed.

The gun looked like new except for the parts he touched, he said see when a rack it something sticks,
The barrel bushing was over sized by a lot, and the only tools he had to twist it in with brute force was vise grips
one on the barrel bushing, and one on the slide
it looked like there wasn't much of the barrel bushing left, and I wasn't able to remove it without a torch.

I removed the slide to see how much more this guy had done, only to notice he never installed a barrel link and pin at all
I asked him where the hell is the barrel link and pin, and he asked me if that was still needed with this set up ? o_O

Why was said parts bought?

Only thing I did to mine was new mag springs from wilson combat because it wasn't feeding my XTPs properly.

One thing I learned so far from owning a 1911, anything involved needs to go to a competent person that has dealt with 1911s.

got a video and pic of said issues?
