Guys down East, how are you doing in the storm?

Mayor of Fayetteville ordered a mandatory evacuation of folks within a mile of the Cape Fear by Sunday afternoon. Buddy who lives down there says the river has not been out of banks in 70 years.

Lots of debris on the ground here, mostly leaves and whatnot. One small tree down and a larger branch on the roof of the barn. So far, we're very blessed.

We're in Marion, SC with the wife's family and we have power and satellite tv amazingly enough. Flooding back home in Lumberton is getting pretty bad though. I had family stop by my house and we've got a bunch of shingles gone and roof damage from an oak limb. Unfortunately those things combined have led to a fair amount of leaks and subsequent water damage inside. It's all material things though and we're safe and dry where we are so, I'll not complain.

Along all the rivers are flooding or predicted to be a major flood. Evacuating along the Lumber, Waccamaw, Little Pee Dee, and Cape Fear. I’ve seen the Lumber and Waccamaw out the banks a lot, never seen the Cape Fear flood the way they are predicting. People along the Lumber just repaired from once in 500 year flood 2 years ago. The Lumber / Little Pee Dee and Waccamaw is going to effect those further south in SC also, even though they have had a lot of rain with a saturated ground by now, they haven’t seen as much rain as further north, and all that water is flowing south down those rivers toward them.

Downtown Whiteville, NC is flooding. Pawnshop I do transfers with has water rushing in it. Lumberton flooding also.

Just read this vis-a-vis Burgaw (WRAL report):

In an area just northwest of Burgaw, N.C., on the Cape Fear River, for example, waters are expected to rise 20 feet above normal by Tuesday morning. If that happens, more than 500 buildings will see damage totaling more than $11 million. More than 100 structures there could see five feet of water or more.

Well, things change...
About 820am we lost power for the first time, for an extended period anyway. I waited until 1230 or so, but just got finished getting the genny out and running.
'Bout time too, the grands were ready to string gramps and their mom up...now they're in a DVD induced trance and somewhat calm.
Nana had just about snapped too, so she's happy now too.

Just so everyone knows, @Brangus gave me a call Wednesday evening on his way home. Thursday morning, he was reporting to work and is still there right now. He hasn't been home since. He's doing OK, his wife and property are fine, at least, they were the last time I heard from him. There is still a lot going on in Lumberton and Robeson County. @Brangus is OK, just busy and ready for things to get back to normal, as we all are.

I think we're going to have similar results. Stay safe.

The creeks are up down here in the low lands. I know several people stranded and locked in where they are at. All the NC rivers in SE NC Flooding, NE SC rivers going to flood. I’ll probably be land locked for a few days, but at a decent and safe location ;).
