A farm raised egg won't be as runny. When you crack one open & put it in a pan the yolk stands up in a dome rather than flattening out. Slightly richer taste. As a buyer of eggs who is considering chickens at my house, what is the flavor difference between store bought and fresh?
I've never had a fresh egg.
Do you supplement their calcium or does the hog feed meet that requirement as well?A friend has been using hog feed with great success from Collins Feed Mill near Maxton. I switched my chickens over to it and first egg production increased and second they do not waste but very little. $13 for a 50lb bag beats everything I have tried.
J-HAM FARM in St Pauls and Collins Milling in Red Springs. I deal with Collins on hog feed and a friend uses the mill in St Pauls. My girls' production has been up and down, even after switching feed. At this point for me, it's going to be about cost.
@COTTON what's the name of the mill in St Paul's?
