So I am REALLY interested in putting a Red dot on my daily carry gun. Unfortunately, I primarily carry Xd platform. Not a whole lot of aftermarket support for the lineup. I REALLY REALLY like the Dueck Defense mount for the RMR. But like most tacticool items. It's only for glock or m&p. Apparently there is an issue with a plunger spacing so most places won't mill the xd slides either from what I've gathered doing research. So my options are lose my irons and mount the red dot in the dovetail. Or ditch the red dot idea.

The only exception I've found is the delta point pro has a backup sight you can attach to the rear slot of the red dot. But then I would still have to figure out front sight options and I'm sure a springer precision mount plate and reddot are gonna be much higher than any suppressor Height sights, right?(not to mention, that sight seems really expensive compared to some of the other popular ones)

OR.........does anyone know somebody that's proficient in milling an XDsc slide?

I get it. "Buy a Glock". I've Tried it. I don't like it as much as the xd and XDm. Hell, Im even toying around with the idea of throwing a jpoint or shield on the XDe if we can get the slide melted.

OR....Anybody comfortable carrying with just a red dot? Pro version cons from those who have tried it?
This is a carry gun. Likelihood of me actually using it somewhere other than the range training is hopefully very low. But it NEEDs to work if I do. I do put a lot of rounds through my weapons prior to carrying them so I guess I could always just mount it and push 1-2k through it for reliability test?

Thanks for all the help and advice folks.

If you find that the xd doesn't fulfill your needs for whatever reason, springfield does make a xdm osp model with the slide already milled.

Iirc it's a 4" with full size grip right? I'm a little dude at 5'7 140lbs. But maybe with the right holster. I've just gotten to where I can dress around the xdsc and appendix carry without worrying about the weapon being obvious when not wearing a hoodie.

I'd buy a xdm compact in 9mm if it had the optics ready in a heartbeat.

Actually 4.5". It is indeed the full size. Perhaps new offerings in the future from them. It would make sense for them to do something along the size of the glock 19 MOS that is pre milled.

@knifeman32 do you know if an osp slide will fit on a 3.8 compact frame. Kinda like the "glock 26L" people used to talk about with 19slides on 26 or 34 slides on a17? Might be worth buying both if it'll work. Lol

I'm not 100% sure by any means but it doesn't look like it will fit to me. Granted I've been wrong a thousand times before.
