I know it is Disney, so many don’t care. I am a big fan of the ride so I wanted to see it. It was not good, but not the 4/10 that it is getting on the rating sites. More like 6-6.5.
The problem is that the plot is not strong enough to be entertaining if you don’t know any of the Easter Eggs that are associated with the ride/imagineers.
On the wokeness scale, it was refreshingly tame. No biracial couple, no same sex couple, and the men were not big doofuses.
The main characters are a black mother with a black son, and a black widower who was previously married to a black woman. The bad guy ghosts were white in life, but that aligned with the genteel rich in 1800s New Orleans.
They did a good job of not taking established characters and changing them.
It’s just the plot was very straight forward and predictable so it isn’t interesting unless you already cared about the background.
