Turns out Sig thoughtfully includes grip extensions for both the P365 & P365X/XL grip modules with their new XMacro 17-round mags, so you can use them with any current 9mm variant. Suddenly, that burning XMacro desire is now just a mild itch!

When I ordered two direct from Sig, shipping became free, though I still had to pay local sales tax. They cost $10 more than the 10, 12, & 15 rounders, so I could have just picked up a couple of 15 rounders, but I figured I’d have the mags and alternate base plates on hand when Sig eventually releases an XL-type long slide version of the XMacro, which is what I really want to replace the G19 Gen4 FS NS I bought new sometime back but just couldn’t convince myself to love. The free shipping made it worthwhile to me to get the new larger mags now as opposed to waiting for someone to have them at a likely slight discount later and pay shipping.

The front edge of the XMacro extension looks to be roughly the same length as the 15 round (I’ve never handled a 15), but angling the rear of the mag downward appears to have given them room to add two more rounds. It feels very good in the hand to me. The new mags also have rear witness holes, similar to Glock’s, and the lower rear of the steel body is exposed, so there is some risk of rust if you’re not careful. A regular, light wipe of Ballistol there is my friend…

They’re also offering the XMacro grip module for $79.99, but it’s dust cover/pic rail are too long for any slide but an XL without what looks like some minor surgery of one pic rail notch (I’m betting we’ll see a YouTube video of someone doing that shortly). After confirming the new mags’ reliability at the range, a 12+1 P365 with a 17 as carry spare strikes me as a reasonable setup. (Call me an optimist, but I’m thinking 30 rounds in a compact, shootable package will be enough for most circumstances.)

Here’s some pics of the XMacro mag with a P365 TacPac 12-round example:

Saw the guy wondering about converting his SAS. If he otherwise likes his SAS, he can simply add the mags to his kit as I did.

Yeah, they’re expensive at $60, but by buying two:
1. I didn’t have to wait for them to be back in stock elsewhere.
2. I got free shipping, which makes up most if not all the difference to the price shipped from most other vendors.
3, I can think about getting the grip frame later. I’m betting you can trim down the front pic slot and it will work fine with the standard P365 slide/barrel.
