Looking to see if anyone has had any personal / actual experience selling a pistol to Guns.com.

Last weekend I submitted two pistols of mine I have for sale just to get an offer data point; one came back pretty low, the other came back unexpectedly high. It's an offer well over my asking price for the pistol I have posted here in the classifieds, and one that's worth considering. I have no concerns that there is anything they'd find that isn't in the pictures, condition and description that I submitted if they're on the up-and-up.

I've read the online reviews, BBB for the company, etc. and gone through all the terms and conditions and am aware of potential risks from those perspectives.

What I'm looking for is if anyone has actually done a transaction with them and how it went?

I believe @Etruett has done (or tried to do) business with them.

My only experience has to do with the gun in the link below. They listed the gun as coming with one 9 round magazine. There is no such magazine for that gun. The factory magazine held 5 rounds and some skilled shooters modified them to hold one or maybe two more. So, either they have the correct magazine and listed it wrong, or it comes with a magazine that can’t possibly function in that gun. Why is it a big deal? Because magazines for that gun run $250-350 EACH. I guess a buyer would like to know whether that additional expense will be required.

I emailed them on June 28th asking for clarification…crickets. Caveat Emptor.

I bought a gun from them about a year ago after making an offer, getting a counter offer etc, and it went ok but the pictures were taken to hide a few scratches, but since it was stainless I was able to fix. No big deal. My 2nd experience was a big huge cluster. I made an offer on a Model 66, which they countered and I accepted. Got no confirmation. I didn’t know at the time, but while we were going back and forth, a buddy of mine had made a higher offer than mine on the same gun and they countered him with a higher price than they offered me. He accepted and they sold him the gun. I got an email telling me they had another offer that had come in earlier than mine which was not true, he had offered about 6 hours after me. So they shafted me for $25. He got the gun and it was way worse than the pictures had shown. Took them several days, but they finally agreed to take it back. All of a sudden, the gun was magically available again. Told them I was not interested with no explanation, and I was told I had to take the gun because my offer was not a contract Even though they were the ones that did not honor the first agreement. I just ignored the emails and it went away. I won’t do business with them again.

Thanks!

Anybody had experience selling them a firearm? Certainly buying issues above raise some concern

So I thought I'd circle back and share my experience selling a pistol to them. I decided to submit my (former) Sig P226 Enhanced Elite .40 for an offer from guns.com (had it posted here in classifieds on CFF).

Their bid for the pistol, should it pass their inspection and match the condition and photos that I submitted was for $805 -pretty good! I had 10 days to accept their offer.

Since I didn't get any feedback from folks who had experience selling a gun to them, I decided to try to first post it here and other forums for a week to see if I could get a quick local sale. When that didn't happen after a week, I decided to try it. Guns.com (a FFL) provided the shipping instructions and label, and I sent the pistol to them on Friday a week ago. I used my own box and packaging, or they can send you one.

They received it on Tuesday, inspected it same day and gave me the full $805. Money was direct deposited into my account Wednesday.

All-in-all a pretty painless experience. As noted above, they gave me a much lower offer on another pistol that I think is nicer and worth more than the Sig was, so there is going to be some algorithm of offer value based on their sales or search metrics that may not be readily apparent. IMO It's worth the 30 minutes to take three decent pictures and provide a little background on your sale to get an offer. Here's the link https://www.guns.com/we-buy-guns

I'm not getting any referral or benefit, and still would have preferred the safety/certainty of a local sale. But when no local sale presented itself when posted for $105 less than the guns.com offer, it worked out pretty well in the end. I'll try them again for future sales if for no reason than to get an additional valuation.

Thanks for the feedback, and you did well on that pistol, I wanted it but not for what they were willing to pay.

After the experience you've had with them I just submitted a gun to them for sale. I'll post my experience with them as this goes along.

Well it's Tuesday and no response from them as of yet. I sent an email forwarding the conformation of my submission they sent me back to the letting them no I've received no offer. So let's see what happens.

Got a response back with a low offer on the gun I submitted. If I was going to sell it it wouldn't be at the price they offered. I guess my email prompted the response. But it was worth the effort to see how they price guns. The offer by the way was $375.00 on a sig 365 MS.

So thought I'd share two more data points.

I was selling an over/under Stoeger shotgun here https://carolinafirearmsforum.com/i...f3000-over-under-12-gauge.94871/#post-1606468 that I'd valued at about $400. At the same time I posted, I submitted the shotgun to guns.com to see what they'd give me for it. Their offer came back at $405. I had a couple of buyers here already interested at the posted price and I prefer the certainty of a local sale so just dropped it off this evening.

I also put in a (comparatively) rougher condition 1972 Remington Wingmaster 870 12 gauge shotgun that I plan to sell to a buddy of mine. Their offer was only $275 for that one, likely worth a good bit more.

My takeaway - still seems to be worth the 10 -15 minutes to submit what you're selling. For me it's about 50% with offers I'd take vs those I'd decline so far.

Also sharing what their markup is on sales of guns they purchase. I‘ve been watching for them to post the p226 they purchased for sale and it finally went up. Paid $805, selling for $1,200. Of course they had some sunk cost with overhead for inspection, photos, paying for the shipping, etc.
