Surprised not one GX460 mention!
If you're considering the 4runner, but like a bit more luxury and like extra power, give the lexus Gx 460 a look. It's a rebadged land cruiser prado and a phenomenal off road vehicle very similar to the 4runner. It can handle anything the 4runner can and more with the v8. No issues towing. The 4.6L v8 is an absolute monster and definitely more peppy given veh size than the tundra/land cruiser 5.8 v8. Cold starts drop panties. The inside is a bit outdated and they are relatively unchanged for 15 years, but I like that. They are true frame on body suvs which you can't really get anymore other than the 4runner, but with v8. They are also gaining strong aftermarket since they have just been discovered by the gen x/y ers as a 4runner killer.
Gas mileage does suck and I average ~14-17mpg city, but everything else makes up for it.
