Hickory gun show

Maybe, if I get some fence up today

How is the Hickory show normally? Have not been to a gun show in years.

Same dealers selling Retail+ on Weapons, Primers 199.99 per 1000, Non gun related BS... better off buying here at Carolina Firearm Forum. Its fine if you want to pay Retail+ and need something today.
tracking.... I get the non gun stuff, Retail + is a new one, if you are buying guns here on the forum is that through an individual or a shop? I am one of those dealers at the show today and also a supporter of this forum so trying to figure out what customers are actually expecting and wanting from a Gun Show?

Back when I used to go I liked being able to see a variety of things in one place. I could look around and handle stuff that the avg LGS might not have in stock or a lot of times don't ever get. Prices were always all over the place. Some were very reasonable others were off the charts. Buying off a table I expected to pay retail. +/- a few $$ depending on what it was.

The only real "deals" I ever got were from individual sellers looking to sell or trade. There were times I saw someone wanting to trade and the amount they were offered in trade was too low and they passed so I would offer them what I thought was fair allowing them more $$ to get what they wanted vs trading to the dealer. Made for a win all the way around.

They want dealers and individuals to sell their gun related stuff to them at a loss so they can re-sell it at a profit.
No But when the show dealer prices the product at retail+ when I can buy on line (Buds, PSA) at 20% less then thats that. After 51 Years going to shows Ive given up sans the Big show in Oklahoma 2 times a year.

20% less? unless PSA and Buds is selling at a loss that's a bit exaggerated. I get it gun shows are not for you!

Yes. Gun show prices are typically higher than gun stores. And even more so than online. But online 80% of the sites just drop ship from the factory. Then there are the old timers with 20 items from the 80s asking crazy prices. Gun shows typically are not the place to get a deal unless it’s a collectible or semi rare.

I’ve spent many thousands mainly because I can feel it, smell it, or taste it before purchasing. But I have never made a gun purchase. Those happen at the gun store.

The cost to get in is BS high. $9 so I can spend money from a guy who paid to be a vendor? Sorry $10 without coupon.

Yep, shows have changed quite a bit over the years. There was a time when there were displays of arms with the history behind them, 1 hour NRA safety class for beginners, and weapons new and used galore. Last show I went to was MetroLiner in 2000, the good,I bought a M1d papered and a 1941 Johnson. The Bad, some nit wit blew a hole in the roof with a unloaded SKS when weapon ck was next to ticket sales...I was about 40 feet away. Enjoy the show folks.

We had our match at CVRPC today, and a couple of guys were going over after, but I had to get back for a Graduation Party: I am thinking about going up tomorrow. Just to see what I might need before everything is not available.

I really need some BR-2 Primers... BAD.... I have a 1000 Federal AR Match Primers (205s) that I will try to barter with.

Show was slow today. Arrived at 12:00. Parked first row parallel to the entrance door. Never dine that before. Vendors felt it was not a typical Hickory turnout. This is the 4th Hickory show with 2 more scheduled. That’s double from past years.

I spent enough for us all. Knives, body armor, pepper spray, expandable baton. Let’s get this party started. Bring on Antifa and BLM.

They are going to kill the show with how many times they are running it. I sat out this time due to there having been three already this year.

Guess the people are waiting to see exactly what crap DC comes up with on the Gun Control front. So far the age limit part along with mag limits and such has not set them off yet. Now if they can somehow pull the AWB 2.0 out of the air it would likely be different for some.

ALSO when gas/diesel is around $5/$6 per gallon and groceries getting double what they were a lot of people are not able to spend money like they did even at the beginning of the year … and it ain’t likely getting better anytime soon.

I’ve enjoyed that show in the past. But $40 worth of gas puts a damper on my enthusiasm.

Are you getting ready for your next service call?
Hell yeah. That FUPA lady set the purchases in motion. By the way she no longer lives there (evicted) and that place was at the top of the road I live on. This week has been almost all lake people who just stay out of the way and write checks. Me like.

A couple in the rotation are gone. Hickory was the first covid damnpanic show closure and the first to reopen. 6 a year is watering the show down.

I think you have me confused with someone else, I was mowing grass all day. Or perhaps someone just wishes they were me!

There will be 8 this year, if he follows the calendar I saw earlier in the year.

I was there, saw a Marlin 336 for $800 among other assorted madness.. 🤮

only thing I got was jerky & one of those laser training things for dry fire...

I blew off a local match yesterday to go. It's difficult to get motivated to get up early on a Saturday and drive 45 minutes North (which you've been doing M-F for the last 15 years) on Saturday when there's a show @30 minutes South.

I missed Cubrock and a couple of other folks. I thought that this show was a little close to the last one as well. I do hope the frequency doesn't kill it. Someone might want to mention to the promoter that 4 times might be better (just an idea).

I probably go to more gun shows than most. I enjoy talking to folks and just browsing to see what I can find that I didn't know I needed. Almost always learn something about firearms, knives, or other stuff I'm interested from talking to vendors. Joined Law Shield last time. This time I remember to use the coupon and saved a buck:)

Saw several things I wanted/needed, have a couple of guns on a friend's table that I'm hoping will sell to free up funds for upcoming vacation and/or for more ammo/guns.

Ate a really good BBQ sandwich ($5) on the move, bought a few odds and ends, best jerky (Bob's) around, some BBQ sauce, and $30 worth of poly tipped 9mm from the guy with the scale and the ziplock baggies (LOL)..

Heading back today after church to get a holster adjusted and see about trading one or both of the guns I have for sale for something I want more. May buy more ammo. I'm getting exercise and supporting the local economy. Win, win. Worth it to me to pay a few more dollars to touch it, hold it, and carry it home if I decide I really, really want it now.

It's like supporting your local guns shops. If we don't they may disappear. I for one, don't want to see that happen.

P.S. It should be required if you're a member and behind a table you have to have a badge, hat, sticker, lanyard with your CFF user name on it. LOL, so guys like me could take up even more of your time talking guns.

YMMV.
