I’m fabbing up an aluminum sheet metal chimney cap for an outdoor fireplace I’m building. It’s primarily to arrest sparks the way I’m building it since I’m close to a lot of pine straw, and also to keep rain out of the fireplace.
It will be about 5-6 feet above the open wood fire on top of a 16 x 24 flue. Not sure what kind of heat we are talking about at this height. I built big fires with my firebowl before so I expect it will get pretty hot, but probably not like headers on a car .
I’m looking for recommendations to paint mill finished sheet aluminum. It’s pretty shiny.
