To keep it short, having the whole house remodeled, and looking for ideas. How do you store and manage your holsters?

I know not everyone has a lot of holsters and it's a simple put in the drawer or safe with my handgun. Due to my previous career and currently teaching concealed handgun classes, I have accumulated a ton of holsters. I would like to find a better way to store them than what I do now. Thanks in advance for any tips!

Those black tubs with the yellow tops that you get at Lowe's.

Beats tripping over them in the hallway.

And the kitchen.

Falling out of the medicine cabinet anytime I open it.

Sticking me in the side from between the couch cushions when I try to go to sleep.

I'm leaning about 15 degrees to the starboard cause I think I am sitting on at least one right now.

I really need to put them in those tubs.

Iā€™ve looked at those. Here is a picture of one idea. If need to modify it but I like the organization.

@TexasEskimo has found a great solution to this very problem. He has a shoe caddy thing that hangs on a door with the clear pockets.
We have that with a bunch of random stuff in it. Like chargers for specific items, USB cords, small random parts, etc. It helps to keep things out of just a junk drawer where you can never find anything. At least in those pockets you can see it.

My wife also has a shoe rack that hangs on a door that has rounded wire hangers on it sticking upwards. Like you would hang the shoe by sticking the wire in the opening of the shoe. That might be good for holsters because you could actually hang them on each wire hook. I bet there are at least 30 hangers on it. Iā€™ll see if I can find a picture of this later today.

Please don't take this the wrong way, because I know this can be some foolish questions. But I'm asking just because my day job is to ask this stuff, and I'm in the middle of my workday...

I'm trying to understand why the question was posed in terms of "storing" holsters. Why not get rid of them?
Are you keeping them for sentimental reasons?
Are they actually all still utilized regularly?
Do they serve different functions/situations?
Do you wear them all simultaneously? (It'd be pretty cool to see something like this.)

Anyway, just wondered if it would be worth the effort of selling a few of the less-used ones to the "holster-deficient" populace...

I've bought a few. Mostly because they're rare enough in the wild to see used leftys. And they've taught me exactly what I don't like - so most of them have ended up in the trash after the lessons, but I don't care because I didn't pay full price for them.

As for my day job...itā€™s me!

Not trying to speak for anybody else, but i got a lot of pistols. many of them have holsters because those cheap "fits 500+ pistols designs" floppy holsters with the metal rivets that rub my gun slide and the suicide strap as the only form of retention are not what i like to use.
If i sell a gun (rare) my accessories go with it, including the holster. If i keep a gun, i keep accumulating accessories.
and yes. my holsters serve different purposes. I may have OWB, appendix, IWB, and minimalist holsters for any given gun.
I'm not gonna take off my belt and thread it through a holster all the time. I may just grab a quick appendix slip-in for a small gun if i'm making a quick local trip. I may put on a bigger holster for a bigger gun and put on a mag carrier too if i'm going on a longer trip or have to go to places i don't like going.

crossbreed seconds, blem or returned/clearance holsters if i'm browsing a site or in a store that has some, my wife impulse buys snacks and other stuff i don't understand. i impulse buy gun stuff.

I just saw this guy at Ace Hardware in Lexington this afternoon. He got out of a Toyota Tundra with a spotlight on top. Bunch of electronics inside the vehicle. He had what looked like a full size Glock in the small of his back. He had another full size on his left hip and what looked like a tool bag on his right with a 30 round AR mag in it. He had Velcro patches on his holster but couldnā€™t make out what it said. No badge that I saw. Not a clue but at least the holsters were secure and not Uncle Mike

Picked up a couple of these from Academy several years ago. Dividers inside make 4 compartments. I would designate each compartment to a gun.

I use them for demonstrations and training aids when teaching. You can talk about a IWB, OWB, AIWB, pancake, belt loop, paddle, ankle holsters, tension screws, retention systems and etc. all day long. But until the student see it demonstrated and holds it, some just donā€™t get it.

Iā€™m digging this box with a smaller rack system like I posted above. Think I may have found what I was looking for!

Edited: can you measure the individual compartments for me? Wondering if I can use it divided into 4 sections or only 2.

6.25x5
8ā€ deep

Yes you can make it 2 compartments by removing a divider.

And it looks like 2 compartments will be the way I need to go. Thank you for measuring. Iā€™m about an hour away from Academy so you saved me some windshield time.

nice. for years i was just using a bookshelf and whatever cardboard boxes i had handy to sort stuff. my wife hated the look and bought me a bunch of little clear bins, maybe 6x12". they are clear, so i just put in a piece of paper that had a "brand" label and sorted things that wawy
one for ar stocks. another for grips and handguard. another for more stocks and handguards that didnt' fit in the other 2 boxes... one walther 22 and subcompaccts, another for p99-ppqm1 series, another for m2 series.

it made things too convenient and i found everything fast. i was always in and out of that shelf. that leads to me leaving things laying all over the placce because i forget to put them away. it's a nightmare.
much better to just stuff it all into one big crate so you never want to go look

I do like the idea of the show caddy for my different EDC setups. Super simple and can easily see and identify what holster you are grabbing. I will probably end up with two systems. The storage boxes that @Lucky63 posted for my training gear and the shoe caddy for my EDC setups.

Thanks a million for all the suggestions!
