We've embarked on a home remodel and expansion to get a "long term" house. We've nearly outgrown the current place and recently looked at buying property and building new. Not gonna happen (cha-ching). For a little chunk of money and a few month headache, we can convert the current place we have to a place the fits and we really like.

I've got an architect drawing up plans, and I've got a bank starting to process the money part. Now I need a couple good GC recommendations. I don't want to play "Google Roulette" with finding a random GC on such an important (to us) project. Last thing I want is to be the subject of a reality TV show about bad contractors!

I need someone who works the 28227 market (Mint Hill) and doesn't qualify them self as a "south Charlotte/Ballantyne/Dillworth/Queens" builder (all high-end parts of town)! I've spoken to two via Google search and they led off with that speech like it was a badge of honor. I hear "I'm expensive."

Does anyone have a recommendation/referral? In a nutshell, I'm pushing around some internal walls on my existing footprint and building an adjacent "connected" garage (gotta use the right words to get a zoning permit--it can't be a "detached" garage!!!). Looking to do the work this summer/fall.

Anyone know Chip and Jo?

In all seriousness, I'd beg the Essential Craftsman guy to do it if he weren't in Oregon! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCzr30osBdTmuFUS8IfXtXmg

That's who I want to be like when I grow up, he's my #1 YouTube channel.

Good luck with your project.

I do but I'm booked up for the next 4-6months. Not taking clients currently...
No harm, no foul. Looks like you're too far out of my area anyway. There'd be like a $10,000 fuel surcharge! At least there are no gators between me and you.

And for the record, @concepthomes1 DOES do what I'm looking for. My mental Rolodex of what everyone does here was a little off.

I've seen a lot of @concepthomes1 work over the past few years, and I would vouch for the quality as well, especially how damn fine his footings are staked then pinned.

Hell, there are several places a few minutes from you that you could see their work first hand.
