When I first got my AR, it would go to the range and burn through a couple 100 rounds before I was there an hour. It also went to the range with me every time I went to the range.
Now when one of them (223) might make the range about every 4th trip. And when it does, I am shooting with a 10 or 15 round magazine trying to hit tagrets from 100 to 300 yards. Most of the time I will not shoot more than 50 to 60 rounds. Can not remember when the 300 BO was at the range and the AR-9 might make the range 4 times a year.

The only except to taking the 223 is when I take a person that has never shot a gun or AR rifle.

Similar to HMP....about every third trip and I take three loaded mags. And I don't always shoot all of em lol

Always check 50 battle zero on them. Usually 4 or 5 mags on HD/SD setup steel to mimic reactive shooting. I’ll every so often longer ranges to see just how bad my eyes have gotten too

All trips to Frontline Defense the AR will be in the car plus two or more long guns and at least six pistols.
I don't shoot for half an hour, I shoot over several and take my time. Nobody knows how bad I shoot.:)

I also bring my suppressors with me.

An AR goes when my wife goes.

If I know the guys will be at the range running drills I might take one and join in.

Mostly loading rifle is laborious and I just can't bring myself to buy ammo. I built the AR9 to avoid such and not have the wife complain.

Mine is a NRA/CMP competition rifle and I try to get some live fire practice in on Sunday mornings. Usually 30-40 rounds practicing position shooting (standing, sitting or prone) in slow and rapid fire.

Throw in an 80 round match once a month and that adds up to around 200 (+/-) rounds a month, on the average.

I practicemore with handguns right now (prepping for concealed carry class).

Next range trip the creedmoor well be coming along but it's been a while since the 5.56 came out and the .50 Beowulf still needs a gas block all its never been. Not that it will be going often at $2/shot.

about every other trip if time allows. Run through about 120 rounds from 75-125 yards. Would go out farther but that's as far as range goes. :(

Depends what I'm going to the range for. Sometimes it is just pistol which then is at least 3 calibers other times it is for long range precision where I might spend a couple of hours and only use 30-50 rounds. Other times it might be to just plain have fun with friends so everything comes including shotguns

At least one of mine goes whenever I am at a range that allows them. But I agree with Wahoo, get into some 2/3 gun competitions or take a class, then you really start burning through some ammo.

About every 5th trip. Most times I'm working with my black powder stuff and practicing with them. When the AR goes, it's pretty much all offhand shooting at 200yds. I used to shoot 3gun quite a bit but the offhand muzzleloader stuff at distance is way more challenging and requires a zen like concentration to get good at it. When I go back to the AR it's ridiculously easy to head shot a silhouette at 200yds.

Generally I try and shoot small groups from a bench, and fail.

Have you checked to see if you're flinching or cross eye dominant? Both can kill group sizes. Also, if you're drinking any of the popular "energy" drinks, quit. They'll make you shake like a Model T on a washboard, not conducive to accurate shooting.

I've taken my MR556 out and zeroed the diopter, or at least got it very close. I'll work on it more later, but I've been working a lot more with my MR762 trying to get data out to 1000.

The only time mine sees a bench is if it is being zeroed or someone is trying it.

If I take it to range it is to do dynamic type practice for matches. I agree with Wahoo: try a two gun match and see how fun an AR can really be.
Bench or shooting line: like watching paint dry.

It depends on the AR, but I usually take 1 or 2 each range trip. The AR10 usually gets 20 rounds through it. My 223 Wylde will get 20-40 rounds. All the others will usually get anywhere from 40-100 rounds through them in a range trip.

Talking .223 ARs, at least every other trip, usually a couple hundred rounds. I also tend to bring new shooters every other time.

I’m primarily an AR guy so every single time I go to the range I have some AR platform gun with me, be it .223, 300BO, or .22lr.

Mine goes pretty much every time and usually shoot 200-300 yards since there where the steel is set up. Usually 2-3 mags and a mix between standing unsupported and supported on a bench.

Only for the uninitiated. Speaking for myself, when you’ve had to carry and/or use it as part of your job, it loses the “fun” appeal.

Only time mine was at the the range this year was to reconfirm my zero for hunting.

one AR always goes along every range trip. I love my 18" rifle gas gun that I built completely from parts so much that I would EDC it if I could. It is such an accurate soft shooting rifle that if I had only one .223, it would be the one.

I like shooting AR pistols outdoors so if I'm outdoors that's what I am toting.

Total of 1 20 round mag a month. Sometime less. VERY seldom more. These firings are at random targets on the range here. 3-5 rounds and then put away til next opportunity.

I don't. I don't shoot mine anymore. I just build them, fondle them, then set them back in the rack until it's time to do more fondling or reconfigure them.

Seriously I've shot less this year than I ever have. Probably because when I've not been shooting Clay's, I've been at TSA and I agree with @NKD, shooting paper on a line is the worst.

We need to fix this affliction.

I take several ARs with me every trip to the outdoor range, I have RDS sights on my 2 carbines and the 300blk pistol, a 1-4 on the 458 Socom (which has yet to be sighted in) and a 1-6 on my wife’s AR.

I normally try to shoot the carbines and the 300blk pistol from 15 to 50 yards in the same fashion that I shoot matches, at a static range I’ll put several 6” shoot-n-see targets up and work on double/triple taps on each target in various patterns, when I am invited to ranges like PHA I’ll try to set up “stages” and work on the same type of shooting with pistol transitions mixed in.

When I am able I’ll shoot the carbines out to 200-300 yards, I’ve only gone out to 300 a couple of times but I enjoy the heck out of shooting steel at 200+ with a red dot, I have yet to shoot the 300blk past 100.

My .308 AR has a 4-14 scope and I am still attempting to get the damn thing to shoot consistent groups at 100 yards, due to the cost of the ammo the .308 isn’t shot nearly as much but I’ll be shooting it more now that I’m getting my reloading kit assembled.

The 458 is a range toy and I’ll shoot it now and then for ghits and siggles, it really is a hoot to shoot.

I built my wife what I consider a high end AR off of a Mega Arms billet upper and lower last year and she was not into shooting it much at all with a RDS, once I put a strike Eagle 1-6 scope on it she has really taken to the platform, so we spend a bit more time trying to shoot clover leaves these days.
