I'm thing of buying one, they're a bit more affordable than the CZ. Does anyone have experience with the Howa 7.62x39? I'm wondering about the trigger pull, accuracy, and quality. I've got 2 AR's in x39, and would like to add a bolt gun.

There was a 6.5 Grendel in the classifieds. So someone has shot a variant
Thanks. I've read some reviews online, but would like an opinion from someone who's owned/fired one. I've thought about the Grendel, but I've already got a buttload of reloading gear for x39.

I got out x39 and getting into Grendel. The energy down range just kills everything else in its class.

I have never owned a Howa but it is made in Japan, so I imagine the out of box quality will be substantially better than Remington, Savage, or similar. I used to frequent a particular Sniper forum and the owner was very fond of using the 1500 action in his budget sniper builds. He also uses them as house guns for his training seminars. I don't think you can go wrong with Howa. If I needed another bolt action, I would likely get a 1500.

Howa makes good rifles. Never heard anyone have something bad to say.

Why a bolt in x39? Doesn't the round run out of gas at 200yds?

Mel at sniper central? I think I remember seeing his packages some time back

205 just to be safe ;)
I know he's reloading but I shot an old telephone pole at about 200 yards one bullet blew through the pole. My second shot barley stuck in it. I pulled it out with my fingers. The rounds were old surplus crap.
