The S.C. Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR) released 16 more tagged coyotes statewide recently as part of the Coyote Harvest Incentive Program. This program was created in 2016 by the General Assembly, which directed SCDNR to develop and implement a coyote tagging and reward program

Annually, SCDNR traps, tags and releases four coyotes per game zone (16 total). Anyone who successfully takes and reports a tagged coyote will be rewarded with a free lifetime hunting license. The person reporting the tagged coyote has the option to designate anyone for the lifetime license such as a child, relative or friend.

So they caught the coyotes… and let them back out for you to have to deal with, instead of taking care of the problem when they had control.
That would only take care of sixteen yotes.
I wonder how many yotes will be exterminated by folks looking for those exact ones? Couple hundred? More?

They’ve had this program for as long as I can remember. Nice added incentive to take a shot at every yote you see. Even if you think the shot will mess up your hunt ( It won’t )

How is this program an incentive? Anyone who plans on hunting for a lifetime is so into the sport that they have no problem paying for their license.
From the OP.

The person reporting the tagged coyote has the option to designate anyone for the lifetime license such as a child, relative or friend.

Here's the rub; they have not actually tagged any and no one will ever know. Lol
