I have a gas pack that is about to have the third coil replaced (do not know what coil ) due to leaking Freon. Is there something the contractor is doing wrong or better yet what should he be replacing? The manufacturer is giving us a problem.

Thanks

That’s called the A coil. Re contractor negligence, it depends on where the leak is. One thing to check is how it’s supported to ensure that the loading is being taken up by the support pads instead of the incoming lines.

I have actually dealt with an issue like that

If it's the evaporator coil, the instance I saw was where the shroud from the unit to the wall, the installer used too long of a screw and it was rubbing a hole in the loop on the end of the coil.

It wasnt found until the 4th coil was being changed.

That explains why contractor installation is responsible for many of the poor quality reports, eg Goodman. I’m sure cheap equipment is more prone to contractor error too.
