I’m going to see if I can help my wife buy a Subaru. Maybe tomorrow.

You will be like my wife- "I know my car can do X, but I don't know how..."

I tell her to look on Youtube. 9 out of 10 she can find out how there, lol
I figured out most of it on the drive back from the selling dealer two hours away. My wife will only want to know where to insert the key, and the gas nozzle.

Turns out it originally came from the Durham store, I guess they traded to this dealer down east where we saw it on-line and bought it. So one of youse guys drove it down there.

Success.

No concerns about turning your man card in,, that's not a girly car. Looks like a short MMA fighter to me.

After a 2 hour ride home yesterday, the four banger without the turbo, and with the CVT trans feels pretty sluggish compared to the itty bitty four cylinder in my wife’s base Equinox with the turbo and a six speed auto trans, but my solution is to just mash the fun pedal harder.

I hate driving my mothers CRV for that reason.

Now that I think about it, my wife has yet to drive my WRX. Of course when she’s had too much to drink, I hear “F-U, I can drive that car better than you. I’m going to take it for a joy ride”. Ok, but wait till you’re sober, please.

Your wife tanks her own car? Must be nice. I don't know if mine even knows her car has a gas gauge, much less a fuel tank. If I don't fill it, it doesn't get done. Something she picked up from her mother. Gas is boy's work.
I don't mind all that much, there's more girl work than boy work around here.

I have three tabs open in Safari right now.

HDforums - Harley discussion
Carolina Firearms Forum - you know
and .... Youtube - with various diminutive Subaru experts, who wear fashion-ista eye glasses, with no discussion of engine performance whatsoever in their postings.

It’s like having a split personality.

My complaints with mine are power and battery. Bought a better battery and a portable starter.
But still wish it had more power.
However, it has proven to be adequate and I drive like a douche sooooooo.... it's probably better this way, lol.

True. I learned the turbo lessons!
I have a grandma coworker, Jill, who drives a Mazda CX-5. Before I got my car, we bought my wife a CX-5 and it supposedly has a turbo (I say supposedly compared to my WRX). She said when they were looking at models her husband was like, grumble grumble, grumble, I don’t want to deal with no GD turbo nothing …. Jill says her granddaughter still says, put it in sport mode grandma.

Bought this thing super cheap on Friday. It's in pretty good shape but will need a major service.

I got a deal on it because it has an oil leak. Pretty sure the timing chain will need to come off of it to repair the leak. Gonna be a big job.

It's the non turbo 3.0 6 cylinder with a traditional non cvt automatic transmission. Hoping it won't be a total turd. I'd like for it to be @Shortcake323 next car but it will depend on how much I like/dislike working on it. If I hate working on it then we might just flip it.

can't wait to hear what you think about working on this

my main objection to Subaru's is that those boxer engines are notoriously a PITA to work on/maintain in the long term
+ turbo ones seem to go kaboom a lot...
not a fan of turbos, in any non/diesel vehicle

Turbos are awesome if it's a project car with a project budget. A well done aftermarket build can actually be pretty easy to work on if you plan your build well.

Factory built turbo cars tend to be a real hassle to work on. Not a big fan for daily drivers.

I'll probably end up making a thread for the outback we just got. Gonna take me a while to get it going.
