Now my first Glock, ~20 years ago was a gen2 23 and I hated it. I hated it so much I sold it pretty fast. It was absolute garbage compared to my USPc (also in .40)
My second glock was a gen3 17, maybe 5-10 years ago and I hated it. I hated it so much I sold it pretty fast. It was absolute garbage compared to my Walthers.
Well, a couple years back I was at a range and somebody offered to let me try their gen4. It didn't suck. I was surprised. it put a bug in my brain...
So a little while back I saw a police trade-in gen4 Glock 22. I think it was about $240 supposedly with non-glowing night sights. I'm the proverbial fool who can't hold on to his money. Right off the bat I was miffed about the false advertisement. the night sights glow just friggin fine. Anyway, I ordered a 31rd ETS mag for it... and then I also ordered a bear creek 9mm extended/threaded barrel. And alsoa 31rd mag for 9mm. and a few 17rd magazines for 9mm... I finally took it out for a test drive this afternoon. first a couple mags of .40, then another couple mags of 115gr 9mm... then I put on the suppressor and broke out the 147gr reman ammo ... and it worked beautifully. It shot straight (something my 92fs could never manage) and without any problems whatsoever.
At 10 yds and no muffs, the ringing of steel was like something from a symphony. A alegretto movement alternating between pianissimo and forte notes.
So gen2/3 are not for me... but gen4 or later could be a problem for my wallet.
I'm already buying WAY too many walthers, and slowly building up more berettas... I don't need to toss another brand in there, do I? I figured I'd get in to FN befor glock, but... but... I mean... for aftermarket parts, glock has everybody beat. I've always just thought that they're ugly and soulless and utilitarian to the bloody end... but now, maybe that's not so bad
