The adjustable gas block is a bonus.

What the hell is going on there? I am an ignoramus with such things.

308 AK?
It’s the angle of the mag. It’s a 556 ak

Oh yeah that’s nice. It’s a m85. I’m going to add a rail for a red dot and beat the 💩 out of it.

i don't hate it. i don't hear a lot of bad stuff about zpaps

I love my M90np.... And am still kicking myself for not getting the 85np that was at the same shop. Hindsight, right?

Nice setup!

OMG, I will gladly donate a manly-mag for that gem............... Frickin blasphemy.

Which rail are you looking at? A picatinny setup between the Krink sights, Ultimak, AK Master Mount, or something else?

I'm personally a bit fan of the Ultimak because it doesn't require any permanent modification to the gun. It does position the red dot a bit further away from your head though, so depending on the optic it might affect your eye relief. They are rock solid mounts though.

ETA - You'd need the Ultimak M18, not the M15. The M15 only fits the M92 (in 7.62x39).

You know thats a good point...

I have this one the other AK and love it. I know its a bit more expensive but maybe this

@amnesia if you go the dog leg top cover, just make sure you get the model for the M92/M85. And FWIW I'd ignore any gen 1 or gen 2 TWS dog legs that might pop up in the secondary market. Cheaper for sure, but folks had issues maintaining zero with the earlier generation top covers.

I have the dog leg on the green banana. I have one in the cart for the m85

Not quite the same - these M90 (rifle) and M85 (pistol) "NP" versions were Century Arms exclusive imports and featured the somewhat polarizing factory polymer magwell adapter. Century also imported an M85 variant (model designation "PV," I believe) that used proprietary 5.56 steel AK mags. These were made in Zastava Arms' legendary Kragujevac factory in Serbia. The M90NP is relatively uncommon ... I think only a couple thousand were imported. The M85NP was probably brought over in somewhat similar numbers.

In early 2019, Zastava USA was founded and became the exclusive importer of the current ZPAP line (the ZPAPM70 is effectively a new OPAP with a chrome lined barrel), and these guns are made in the same Serbian factory. The new ZPAPM85 uses the same proprietary AK mags as the former PV, and Zastava USA just announced it plans to introduce an updated M90NP sometime in 2021 - fingers crossed but we'll see what happens with sloppy Joe and imports.

The ZPAP series is solid for sure and comes from the same plant ... just a little different from their predecessor importer.

@IUHoosier429 Mine is a M85-NP and has zastava serbia on the receiver

Ive never seen an M90np with a serial above 2000. The highest I know of personally was in the single digit 19xx range.....Supposedly 2000 was what they imported.... I'd almost bet there are more M85np's then the M90np's. Seen alot more of them.

I personally prefer the dog leg Gen 3 over the Ultimak for one reason. Heat transfer.

It's a well known issue if you don't have a terrific optic then the heat from the gas block can transfer to the Ultimak tube and start to cause weird things to happen. The dog leg mount won't have this issue. Also, the wedge design in the top cover release button is clever and works well.

In the safe here is a Yugo with an old TRS-25 mounted on an Ultimak for ~2,000 rounds including a couple drum dumps. No hot hot heat issues to speak of, and the optic still works perfectly. I may have changed the battery once in like five years, but honestly I think it is still on the original battery.

I've read a lot of hearsay about Ultimak heat and optic issues, but I can't recall much in the way of anecdote referencing actual equipment failures. The Ultimak also gives you a nice spot to mount a weapon light.

To each their own and YMMV. As long as what you have works for you, I dig it. I'm also thankful for all the options available to us ... more ammo against the AR Chads who claim we don't have any aftermarket options in the AK world.
