I was born in High Point, and did most of my growing up in Cabarrus County, walking the fields and woods behind our house with my 39A Mountie (yep, still have it). I grew up around guns, with a dad who was a gun nut, and an uncle who was a gunsmith.
Easter weekend of 1995, someone broke into my parent's house and stole his gun safe, containing almost 40 long guns, 25-ish hand guns, some really old Elgin railroad watches, and countless reminders of good times with family and friends. They took all his knives, and my mom's jewelry, too. They knew precisely where everything was. That event ruined my feeling toward firearms, because of the feelings of loss and rage I would feel every time I handled a gun.
After about 20 years of "turning my head", interest started to trickle back in; and has turned into a flood of gun lust. But, I'm a n00b all over again. So much new stuff to learn, and old stuff to freshen up on.
So, I'm here to learn and share what I can. I'll try to do my homework before I ask any dumb questions.
Glad I found this place. Thanks to those who made it happen.
