Got a call this afternoon from a gentleman claiming to be from Publisher’s Clearing House. I was the weekly winner of 11.5 million and a 2019 C Class Mercedes. Immediately I could hear street noise in the background like he was on a cell phone. He couldn’t believe I wasn’t jumping for joy and didn’t sound excited like I should. I decided to screw with him a little and first asked why didn’t I get a 2021 Mercedes. I think he realized his mistake but recovered saying if I checked the collectors market I would see it was worth more than the new ones. He went on and on about PCH was even going to pay all my taxes! I told him to go ahead and send Steve Harvey on out! He had no clue what I was talking about. When I told him finally I didn’t believe him he said that if I didn’t want to go forward, the money would go to charity. I kept asking what was it going to cost me to get my money Because I knew it was coming. He kept saying nothing. Then after I had drug him around for about 15 minutes I was asked how close was I to a Walgreens. He was going to send me a pre winners package to my local Walgreeno and all I had to do was pick it up by 700 tonight. Then the bomb dropped finally. The normal deposit to claim their prize was $3800 but since I was a double winner, all I had to do was go to Walgreens and buy an EBay gift card for $380. 10%!!!. I told the dumb guy that was no problem and I would head over to Walgreens right then, get the card and call him back the number. Initially he gave me a claim number and had me read it back to him twice. Both times I switched the numbers. Finally got tired of messing with him and told him I had changed my mind, go ahead and give to charity that I had plenty of money. I will listen initially Because in the late 90’s there was a search engine called iwon.com. Every time you used them instead of Google or other places you got entered into a $10k weekly drawing. I did win one of those. Hung up on the lady 4 times before I listened and she was legit. Guy today was a joke. He did sound American, but amazingly his phone was out of order as soon as we hung up.

Hey. Ain’t you old folks?
Not like that. Not yet. Someone called my old mom like that though. She gave them her social security number and credit card number.
Bank didn’t seem too concerned.

Holy crap.

Should have tried to sell him an extended warranty for his car
I should do that to the next solicitor that comes to my door! 😂
“Hi! I’m so glad you stopped by, we’ve been trying to reach you about your car’s extended warranty!...”
“Ummm, sir, I’m actually here to talk to you about repairing your roof”
“That’s great because your truck is going to need an extended warranty to ensure you can make it to the job site every day. Let’s talk about your options...”

I just answer the door holding a gun and in my skivvies. They usually leave pretty quick.

Old folks fall for this stuff, sadly

My Mom was gullible in her 80s and 90s, but rough on scammers. She would get a call, ask 100 questions, write down every answer verbatim, tell innumerable stories, and promise to call back after talking to her nephew in law enforcement.

My 91 year old mother get calls constantly and tons of mail asking for money. The legit charities are just as bad praying on the old folk.
I found out my elderly mother was contributing to 5-6 different charities. Only $5-10 a month per charity, but it adds up. A couple I had never heard of. Had to stop her

I knew a 92 year old man who gave $25,000 TWICE. Bank called the son after that.

It gets worse. The daughter in law was also ripping him off using his money to gamble in back rooms in Myrtle Beach. To the tune of $16,000 plus the family checking account. So even relatives play the game.

I can’t believe no one praised me for letting my 11.5 million go to charity!
I was getting to that............had to clean up the coffee I spit all over my key board first ;) Maybe retract your "contribution", keep the money and give your guns to the CFF "Charity" Just a thought, but this way we can ALL feel better about your generosity.

I praise you for having the income to benefit from the charitable deduction. 🤓

This is another reason why the banks and credit unions tell you to order large bills in advance. So many folks get taken by these scammers.

I never answer the door, unless I know the person and they told me they were on the way over.

A man and his daughter showed up and wanted to come in so she could use my bathroom. I felt bad turning them away, but really, not letting strangers in the house! That was the last time I answered a knock at the door.

People know I'm anti-social, and if they want to visit they call ahead. lol.

I've took numerous reports from elderly folks falling for these scams. I had an elderly female who received a call from a diabetic medicine company. She gave them her checking info, ss#, dob and then they had her. It took years for the family to fix all the problems.

But, there are so many unfortunate princelings and former heads of African states who need help financing the freedom fighters against the corrupt communists.

If I thought they were really killing Commies I'd give them someones card number.
