To run a stationary bike so much I broke the chain. lol Snapped it this morning mid ride. Found a bike shop with a replacement chain so I'm back up again for tomorrow. Easier fix than the elliptical.
I like bike machines a lot.
Id like to, eventually, get one of those trainers that you put the rear wheel in when using your 'real' bike.
I've got one of those. I hate it. Or any stationary bike for that matter. I'd rather ride for hours in a cold rain on my real bike. 20 minutes on a stationary bike feels like you've been on it for hours. If you're anywhere near Charlotte, you could get this trainer really cheap.
I used to have the same one. Was going really good for about 20 minutes when I noticed my bike seemed tilted. Just as I had that thought my rear wheel came out and I ended up crashing sideways in my house nearly hitting my head on the server in my dining room. My wife came running out of the other room at the commotion I had made and after making sure I was alright told me that I would have to start wearing my helmet indoors.IDK. $50? I'll have to see if I can find the long skewer that goes with it. I've got a box of them in the garage.View attachment 51883
I have the trainer with two rollers that your bike sits on instead of being bolted in. I can't get the hang of balancing on it, so I have to pedal while hanging onto something. It's terrifying.
You can have some pretty good crashes on them too.
I have had several. Like I said, I'm pretty shaky on them.
For those who use rollers or the dreaded back wheel holding evilness of the trainer, I started doing a quick 30 to 40 minute interval workout to make the tedium more tolerable.
Warm up for 10 minutes with a high cadence spin.
Go full tilt for a minute on then rest a minute.
Do that as many times as you want and then spend 5 to 10 minutes spinning again to cool down.
It makes me suffer enough that the time goes by pretty fast.
