How many times have you heard this in the past week? Or in the past month, year.....ever? It seems I can't go 5 minutes without hearing or reading it. From peolple who condsider themselves 2A supporters because they own a handgun but "can't see why anyone would need to own more than 2 or 3 firearms." From people who have a safe full of long guns in calibers much larger and more powerful than a .556 but "can't understand why anyone would need and assault rifle." To these people I say no, you don't support the Second Amendment. You can't support something so plainly stated and at the same time support restrictions on that very thing that in its wording fordids restrictions upon it. "I support the Second Amendment but...." Funny thing about that little word "but", it usually means forget everything I said before because now I'm going to tell you what I really mean. I know we live in a world of grays and very few things are black and white. This is one of those things. You either support the right to keep and bear arms without infringement or you don't.

That's my rant. Out

I'll take a token effort over open hostility. I had a family member tell me "Whoever decided the 2A was an individual right is a friggin' moron"
I'm having dinner with that guy again Saturday. I think I'll wear my NRA hat.

The BUT people are the same people that listen to NPR every morning because they think it makes them more sophisticated. And the people with faux superiority because they are not a left wing wacko, or a gun rights' nut. They went to a good school, or have the right job. And they are a huge bunch of pseudo-intellectuals. And a huge problem.

I have no time for those people. They are descendants of Neville Chamberlain and losers everywhere. They belong in Brussels, Paris and London. Those are places that have reaped what these fools wish to sow here.

Look at them and say "I support the First Amendment, but..." or "I support the Fifteenth Amendment, but..." or "I support the Thirteenth Amendment, but...".

Pick an amendment and go with it.

We all live in a beautiful but cruel world. Evil walks amongst us all. If you don't believe in evil, then substitute the word "insane".

They can pass more laws regulating stuff, outlaw stuff, attempt to confiscate stuff, cry about stuff, etc.......

Guess what? Insane and evil people will still commit insane and evil acts against their fellow man. We've been doing it for centuries now. How stupid does a person have to be to not realize this?

Liberalism, Progressivism, Socialism, Communism, or whatever "ism" you choose, is the culprit. They are the disease/cancer eating away at the fabric of our society and country.

The "isms", and their indoctrinated supporters/members, are the voluntary enablers of the evil/insane in the world today. I personally don't see it any other way.

I'm growing fond of replying to that with some variant of "I support the 1st Amendment, but I don't like your opinion and I don't think you need it."

Could always hand them a 4473 first, tell them they have to fill it out and pass a background check before they can speak aloud said opinion.

I can say I support the second Amendment, but everyone can kiss my ass if they think I don't need something.

Most folks who say those things are arrogant enough to be hurt at the suggestion that you dislike their opinion, and when they play their victim card it leaves one with the opportunity to observe aloud that they literally find their own logic offensive.

Yup. Trey Gowdy grilled one of his “victims” saying “what other amendment’s rights do we so willingly and frequently chill like we do the 2nd? 6A; Right to a speedy trial? Nope. 4th?....” etc

The 2A is like the red headed step child amendment. I’m very worried for our future

Liberal logic at it's finest.

I'm sure most of you have heard this one but it's the one I often think about with the current debates.

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety." - Ben Franklin

I can't understand why "shall not be infringed" is so hard for these dumbasses to understand. I'm not even a yank and I get it. Billy Idol gets it. Why can't Glen?

Had a guy born and raised in Romania petition the BOD at the club for membership. He gets it. Born and raised under Communism. And he'll be a member at next months meeting I'm sure.

"I support the 2nd amendment but..."

Nope, need you all more than ever, fellers. Thank you for this site and thank you for being good dudes.

But Ben Franklin was just one of those racist white men who is now irrelevant...

or so I am told.

I dont see any "logic" at all in most liberal rants. They seem to draw their opinions from some tv pundit spewing the same list of talking points as every other liberal source. Fortunately, their veil of hypocrisy is being torn apart as time marches against their positions such as global warming, guns, diversity, and on and on and on. Arguing with said liberals is almost a waste of time! Its like sharing Christ with a muslim....most tune you out because they are not capable of having their eyes opened ! YET....

Just got back from dinner with that hyper-liberal family. I did not wear the hat, not one word was spoken about politics and after dinner he came out with these as a gift to me. I was dumbfounded...

He's probably calling the Ordnungspolizie on you right now.

They all rant about 'Common Sense' but would never know it if it bit them in the rear end.

But see, once you commit to the progressive mantra, there will be no dissent. None. You are not permitted to raise questions let alone an objection. You'll be vilified and ostracized. You'll have a disgusting label thrust upon you. You will be henceforth known as a traitor and omitted from the community of tolerance and intelligence, which only leaves one other choice, Satan.
I know folks that are of left leaning ways. Whether they're in another trade, or a customer, or an acquaintance. Often, they'll approach me, and almost in a whisper, tell me things that disturb them. They might have reservations about unfettered abortion, men in womens bathrooms, gay activism, legislating morality including guns.
They say these things to me in the utmost confidence. They need to talk about it, but dare not say anything within their group.

How different it is. Within our community, you can say that you have no dog in the abortion fight, or don't care about gay marriage, or women in combat is ok with you, or bump stocks are stupid. You might get some disagreements, but you'll still be invited to go shooting on Sunday.

But National Socialists and Communists have a record of treating dissent with tolerance and understanding!

How can the current crop of Statists be so far removed from those values of love and inclusion?

If there's a "but" in that sentence anywhere, the speaker doesn't support the 2nd.

Absolutely!

At times I engage in conversation / debate / argument with Libs and after sharing even shallow ( meaning very easy to verify ) background facts with my opponent~s the smarter ones start backing off, backpedaling, exiting stage LEFT while others keep digging a Bigger HOLE for themselves.

I always have places for them to reference & verify for themselves and one thing I find Very Disturbing is the vast majority of them are college educated and don't know or keep up with the simplest of current events , domestic or global, Period.

We are currently living with the Real Results of banning "Kick Ball" from the play ground and "Every One is a Winner" policies.

Hey Hey, watch that "Tug Toner" action.....this is a respectable joint!
